Just Don’t Bother
Revisado: 10-13-24
Once I begin to read a book, very seldom will I stop. I wanted many times in this book to stop, but I really did want to see how it ended. The reader sounded like a romance novelist reading a thriller. The author was way too wordy and the editor forgot to show up on the shift that day. I am so glad to have finished this and I don’t have to face it again. I am sure I will never get another book by this author.

Narrator hurt the story
Revisado: 09-24-24
The story was good. It was interesting since we had been to Warsaw and knew the area. It gave us a lot of interesting background. The narrator made it almost impossible to listen to. Her voice was such that it was like listening to a horror story read to you by kindergarten teacher.

Historia
Grace Holloway keeps to herself. Since narrowly escaping death at the hands of the man who kidnapped her, she’s thrown herself into the small inn she runs in Rock Harbor, Maine. It’s quiet, quaint and, in the off-season, completely isolated—the perfect place for Grace to keep her own secrets. But Grace isn’t the only one with something to hide, and Rock Harbor isn’t just a sleepy vacation town. Someone is taking young women—girls who look an awful lot like Grace did when she was kidnapped so many years ago.

Well….I finished
Revisado: 04-20-24
The mother narrator is just hard to listen to. My husband gave up. I finished but cringed whenever she spoke. The story needed editing but was okay.

Reader brought it down
Revisado: 01-25-24
This was a good story and kept my interest. I really did not like the breathy voice of the reader constantly sounding as if everything is in distress. There were a lot of distressing things about the book but I would have enjoyed it more if it would’ve just been read in a normal voice

Historia
Fall 1942. When her Hollywood private detective daddy is called back to uniform, Fancy Anders is issued orders of her own - answer the phone, make referrals, and keep the place dusted. But the 24-year-old Barnard grad - whose hobbies include shooting, flying, and jujitsu - isn’t having any. At Amalgamated Aircraft, a young female worker chosen to pose for patriotic photos and posters has met with a suspicious “accidental death”. Fancy takes the victim’s place on the swing shift, fitting in well with coworkers very much not from high society circles.

Whose idea was the noise?
Revisado: 12-23-23
This was a fun book to listen to, a good story. The narrator does a very good job. The noise in the background is so irritating. I don’t know why anyone would want that. We read and listen to books to relax or when we are driving. While relaxing the noise keeps making you wonder what the heck is going on, when driving the noise can be very distracting.

Her daughter worries about her being on her own in her big Victorian house—one rumored to be haunted after a tragedy decades earlier—and truth be told, she is a little lonely. With few options, she asks her adult son to move home, but it’s not quite the reunion she hoped for. Hudson is taciturn, moody, and frequently gone. The neighbors already hold a grudge against Hudson, and they aren’t happy about his return. Pretty Bad
Revisado: 11-02-23
Initially, I just want to say I dislike readers that sound like every second is going to be a startling event. This reader was difficult to listen to because of that. The book had no saving grace to it at all. It was depressing and sad. It was three people none of whom had any thing that you could find likable. I read the whole thing and I wish I wouldn’t have. it was a waste of time.

Needs some edits
Revisado: 09-05-23
It was a good story but there were just some things that made me say “how stupid!” Very unrealistic at times. Then some dumb things like saying it is trash day and Sunday on the same day or swimming across a lake and you phone still works! I finished it but wouldn’t get another.
