Historia
Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to coexist peacefully as equals, without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. But the peace has also made humanity complacent.

unfocused and rambling
Revisado: 10-12-21
The first two books were good. This one seemed to have little core message. The author did a ton of telling rather than showing. It was a lot like listening to a bunch of random sci-fi ideas all spun together with very little story. They would have been far better off turning the ideas into a dozen books that focused more on telling a solid story instead of just bragging about all the ideas the author had. I recommend the three body problem and the dark forest...but then stop there. It's a good end of the story.

Such a beautiful, optimistic perspective on the nature of the universe. I hope reality is even a little like it...I doubt it though.

Historia
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Misguided for modern realities
Revisado: 12-14-20
This book is full of nonsense. The "laws" are given with semi-accurate historical details that are overly drawn out and often end up with the people applying these "laws" being far worse off because of them. If you want to become more powerful in life don't bother with this book as it will guide you into traps that will destroy you. I met a guy who conned someone I know who used this as a Bible and he is paranoid and always one step away from disaster(He actually left his journal abandoned where I got access to it. It showed how bad off his mind was. I suspect anyone who uses this book too much could end up the same. ) Richard Poe is a fine narrator at least. Avoid.

For essentially a free book it was worth the time to listen to. The story was cute and the music made it a lot more engaging.

Revisado: 10-01-19
If you are like me and you don't really prepare much at all this book was an interesting exploration of a way to look at running a table top RPG, especially D&D. If you are a DM who spends much time preparing for your game this is a MUST READ. It will help you learn how to prepare a better game in less time.

Engaging and thought provoking!
Revisado: 10-01-19
The best sci fi books are those that not only explore some interesting idea about a fictional, but potentially real in the future concept, but also interesting ideas of what it means to be human. This book weaves a story that to describe would be to spoil it.

Engaging, interesting and empty
Revisado: 10-01-19
The ideas in the story are intriguing and it's the first I've read set largely underground. I feel like the concept was solid but the story weaved around the concept was poor. A couple of the characters develop, but in ways that feel low effort. The story has plot holes. With the main conflict there could have been much more dynamic interplay, but instead it plays off like a cheesy horror film rather than a complex sci fi. Not a complete waste of time, but not very notable. I really enjoyed the performance though!

A tale of smug evil men
Revisado: 07-17-19
Characters that leave a bad taste in your mouth. What few there were, the female characters were shallow and there just to cower to the manipulations and in servitude to the men. Narration was good.
