Historia
The Court of François I is full of lust, intrigue, and bawdy bon temps—a different world from the quiet country life Diane de Poitiers led with her elderly husband. Now a widow, the elegant Diane is called back to Court, where the King's obvious interest marks her as an enemy to the King's favorite, Anne d'Heilly. The Court is soon electrified by rumors of their confrontations. As Anne calls on her most venomous tricks to drive Diane away, Diane finds an ally in the one member of Court with no allegiance to the King's mistress: his teenage second son, Henri.

Enjoyable!

There are so few books centering around Diane d’ Poitiers so I was so happy to discover this book. And it didn’t disappoint.

Historia
At the side of the most famous warlord of history, Matilda worked, not as a quiet, modest wife, but as a leader...as a ruler just as ruthless as her husband. Under her soft mask of beauty and modesty there lay the heart of a woman powered by ambition. A woman who was strong, courageous, and devious.... Through the eyes of one of the most extraordinary women of history unfold the events leading to the invasion of England and the battle that would decide its fate....

Surprisingly entertaining
Revisado: 05-24-23
A totally different take of Matilda of Flanders that I found very believable and surprising. The narrative is totally entertaining and I listened almost non stop. I’m about to listen to the sequel. My only criticism is how the narrator tries to impersonate the voices of men especially that if William. But it was not so bad as to be actually distracting. Altogether the book is a good listen!

Historia
Recently, the topic of discrimination is spiking across the country. Crimes out of hate and races happen over and over again, both including Asian hate and Black Lives Matter. We are so tired of this nonsense, and we want to stop the hate once for all. Innocent people are dying just because of their look and skin tone. This is ridiculous! We have to stop this craziness. In this audiobook, we will deeply talk about different stereotypes against minorities and crime cases all over the world! If you are one of anti-racism, this audiobook is a perfect fit for you.

Very very poor quality audio
Revisado: 02-19-23
This is the most terrible audio of a “book” I have ever had the misfortune to try to listen to! The narrator stutters, makes mistakes in reading passages, retries reading it and ends up repeating whole sentences and passages. He clears his throat, starts reading, stops, goes over what he has just read then jumps to another sentence. I feel like he has skipped many many passages in the “book.” Obviously no one has proof-listened this audiobook before release. I’ve not learnt much from this one because of the sheer irritation with the quality of the narration.

Historia
Josephine's life story was as turbulent as the age, an era of revolution and social upheaval, of the guillotine and of frenzied hedonism. With telling psychological depth and compelling literary grace, Carolly Erickson brings the complex, charming, ever resilient Josephine to life in this memorable portrait, one that carries the reader from the sensual richness of her childhood in the tropics to her final lonely days at Malmaison.

Couldn’t stop listening. It gave an intriguing look into the life and times of a fascinating woman.
