Could have done without the sound effects.
Revisado: 03-16-22
This is an absolutely amazing work of Asimov. The music and sound effects should not happen. It thoroughly distracted from the full comprehension and appreciation of this epic peace. In a sense, I found it rather disrespectful, bordering on mockery. It should be a straight read. I don’t give negative reviews. This is only #2.

Simply put: Everybody came to Polly's. Pearl "Polly" Adler (1900-1962) was a diminutive dynamo whose Manhattan brothels in the Roaring '20s became places not just for men to have the company of women but were key gathering places where the culturati and celebrity elite mingled with high society and with violent figures of the underworld - and had a good time doing it.

This book is a masterful undertaking. I was very moved by the fact that a little girl was sent to another country and left to fend for herself. Holly Adler was truly a survivor and a historical icon. Debby is a class act!

Historia
Everyone says Lauren Tranter is exhausted, that she needs rest. And they're right; with newborn twins, Morgan and Riley, she's never been more tired in her life. But she knows what she saw: that night, in her hospital room, a woman tried to take her babies and replace them with her own...creatures. Yet when the police arrived, they saw no one. Everyone, from her doctor to her husband, thinks she's imagining things. A month passes. And one bright summer morning, the babies disappear from Lauren's side in a park. But when they're found, something is different about them.

Historia
No running water, no car, no electricity or any of the things it powers: the internet, phone, washing machine, radio, or light bulb. Just a wooden cabin, on a smallholding, by the edge of a stand of spruce. The Way Home is a modern-day Walden - an honest and lyrical account of a remarkable life lived in nature without modern technology. Mark Boyle, author of The Moneyless Man, explores the hard-won joys of building a home with his bare hands, learning to make fire, collecting water from the stream, foraging, and fishing.

Historia
My Prison without Bars is a courageous and harrowing journey through the catacombs of hell, from the mind and voice of a little girl, living with her own monster underneath her bed. Written in first person, this novel is not a memoir, but more a psychological thriller based on true events; chronicling one woman's attempt to claw her way out of the darkness of Child Sexual Abuse, while struggling to find normal, in a not-so-normal world. It is poignant, dark and graphic; not for the faint of heart.

Amazing parallels
Revisado: 01-09-21
Taylor Evan Fulks writes her memoir filled with shocking honesty and so much heart. Here, the story reflects what a child should never have to experience. As an adult, she is a magnet, attracting so much abuse from so many. It parallels my life in so many ways. Her use of levity is masterful and evokes laughter when you least expect. A courageous life journey and a powerful example of perseverance of the human spirit.

Life with My Idiot Family: A True Story of Survival, Courage and Justice over Childhood Sexual Abuse

Historia
Seven-year-old little girls love their daddy. Kathy was no exception, so when her daddy started paying “special” attention to her, she felt “special” in turn. Her daddy loved her.
Few betrayals run as deep as the betrayal of being sexually abused throughout your childhood by the man you should have been able to trust with your life. For Kathy, the betrayal ran deeper because when she finally found the courage to start speaking out about what her abuser did to her, her family responded by labeling her a liar and a troublemaker. Kathy didn’t stop speaking out, though.

Revisado: 01-01-21
Thank you for your strength and perseverance, Kathy. I experienced sexual abuse as a child. It’s very helpful to share your experience to help others. I’ve been sharing for years and have dealt with the isolation and ridiculous. Gaslighting is the worst. I give you all the credit for working on having the statute changed. It is a huge step in putting predators behind bars.
