Heartbreaking and real

Being Jamaican this story took me back and reminded me of another side of Jamaica I only heard about. Staceyann did an incredible job of telling her story or would be a shame to read it and not listen to her immerse you into her life. Excellent book!!!!

As an Black woman parts of the book was uncomfortable to hear because it was y reality. Maybe not so dramatic but you always know it’s there. You can tell Jodi went out of her way to hear us and I appreciated we for that. Awesome read

It started of slow but thankfully I stuck to it and wow what a story. Excellently written. I almost want to see the movie but I know like most books to film it will be a disappointment. Excellent performance

What waste of a credit

I'm so over this book I can't even write a full review. I'm not sure what was worse the story or the performance. But let's start with the performance. It sounds like it was read by a inexperienced community theatre actor who's treating this like her "big break". How do you over act in an audiobook. Then the storyline. There was several eye rolling moments when I thought wtf, seriously? Badly written story with no substance. With that said I applaud the author for even trying.

Just another thoughtless novel

Soon as I finished chapter one I knew the whole story. It was unoriginal and clique at every turn. The story is overdone and redundant. I couldn't stop rolling my eyes at the gag-worthy one-liners. This story is basically Fifty Shades meet Twilight. Huge disappointment.

Not her Best work

This is not what you would expect from a Zane book. It was preachy, predictable,and corny. You can see the main plot coming from a mile away like a charging 800 lbs elephant. The narrator were annoying and I couldn't stand to hear their voice. This was just bad. Sorry I wasted a credit.

I wanted to Believe

At the end it took a minute for me to decide if I loved it or hated it. So I settled on somewhere in the middle. First I loved it for all its twist and turns. Even when I was not listening I was still thinking about what will happen next. It left me thinking...."what's going on"...however, I hated his motives towards the middle, and hated the end even more. I do not want to give it away so I will just leave it at that. Six years had such a strong begging, but much to be desired towards the end.

I would only try another book if I was out of anything else good to read and it was cheap

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. Everything about this book was a cliché. I was have why though the book and I already knew the ended, better yet I knew exactly what was going to happen next before the next chapter. Do not get me wrong it was an OK read if you're in to Love and Hip Hop Atlanta or the Housewives of Atlanta, but I have read much better Urban novels. Just hated the fact that everything about the characters were a stereotype like the man in the club with the gold tooth button down shirt and "nappy" hairy chest hair. Immediately this brought to mind a character from the Martin Lawrence show from back in the days or the brother name Cool aid (really!?). There were losts of rolling my eyes moment while listening to this book. And please do not get me started on the performances or should I say the narrator. They were so “proper” that when they tried to sound urban or “street” it just came across awkward. Over all I just was not feeling it.
