Time to move on...
Revisado: 04-19-25
The theme of this series is getting a bit redundant at this point. I still love these characters so much but it's time for this author to let them grow and move forward.
Once again the narrators do an outstanding job.

Once again an outstanding performance from the narrators, they were all a perfect choice to bring this story to life.
This one however, loses a star for me, while the story was throat-gripping, edge of your seat intense, I was a little disappointed the author felt the need to cut Gwen loose. All of the people she so desperately loves, turned their backs on her or betrayed her...happy ending and all, how do you forgive that? How could they honestly believe, based on what they know of the women in front of them, that she could be capable of the lies being told? That put me off a little.
I'm in for the long haul though, this series has great characters and I'd really like to see the ones in Gwen's inner circle make it up to her ... in a big way!

Oh the love of a mother. That's it, the unimaginable things Gwen Proctor has endured to protect her children is beyond "mama bear". She is fierce and she can be deadly. She is no longer Gina Royal.
I enjoyed this one on audio, the narrator was superb, the story was a bit slow and repetitive in the beginning but I think the author is laying the groundwork for the series. If you can endure the slow go at the beginning, you'll come away ready for more. I've already downloaded book 2.
Gwen isn't what she seems, innocent wife of a notorious serial killer, she's trying to rebuild a normal life for herself and her two children. Running and hiding from crazed followers, changing their names again and again, makes it difficult for them to find that normal life, but she's trying in beautiful, remote, Stillhouse Lake. But someone is watching and as you can probably guess, their life will explode once more.
I'll be anxious to see how these characters find their normal and heal. Gwen is learning to trust a little and has made some allies, I'll be interested to see where the author takes this cast of characters.

Historia
When the bodies of two biker gang members are found, Detective David Wolf finds himself caught in a lethal environment, where truth comes at a price. Two members of a ruthless biker gang called the Sons of the Void show up dead at a cabin in the woods, and Wolf and his team learn violence in a neighboring county has bled south into their jurisdiction. I'm not sure I'll ever get tired of this series!
Revisado: 02-23-25
Every installment of this series is like visiting an old friend. Without spoiling anything, I'm so happy things seem to be working out for David...things have certainly been rough going.
Sean Patrick Hopkins is always a favorite in my ears, I'm amazed at how he transitions so seamlessly from one character voice to the next. Truly a pleasure to listen to!

Historia
Ambrose Young was beautiful. He was tall and muscular, with hair that touched his shoulders and eyes that burned right through you. The kind of beautiful that graced the covers of romance novels, and Fern Taylor would know. She'd been reading them since she was 13. But maybe because he was so beautiful he was never someone Fern thought she could have...until he wasn't beautiful anymore.

Revisado: 01-07-25
This story...I have no words.
My heartstrings are still vibrating from this brilliantly told story of growing up, tragedy and bearing the weight of it. The real beauty though, is in the surviving, persevering and learning to love. This is one that is going to stick with me and hold a special place in my heart.
The narration was done flawlessly and made the story even more enjoyable.

Historia
It took one hell of an effort for the authorities to finally get the jump on master manipulator Bianca St. Ives, but now that they have, it’s far from the capture she expected. Instead of taking her in, there’s an offer on the table, a one-shot deal that would allow Bianca to walk away scot-free as if they’d never found her. And all she has to do is run one last mission - the kind she might never return from. But if Bianca wants to go back to her normal life in Savannah, it’s not like she has a choice.

It's kill or be killed, and she's got her finger flush against the trigger. Disappointed
Revisado: 12-24-24
This one seemed like more of a filler. Not much happened to grow the characters or move the story along and then it ends on a cliffhanger forcing the listener into another book.
That said, while this installment didn't quite live up to the excitement of the first, I'm completely committed to finding out how Bianca gets out of this mess!
