Too much inner monologue
Revisado: 05-30-24
I didnt hate it. But this is the first Philippa Gregory book that left me.... somewhat dissatisfied. There is more inner monologue in this book than any other (inner monologue is absolutely necessary, this book just relied too heavily on it) and left out important details about Mary's plots so it felt....a bit empty.
As far as performance goes, the volume between the three of them was so drastically different that I either had to have it all the way up or race to turn it down as characters changed. The male voice actor overplayed his melancholic character to the point of sounding like a dying, sick old man the ENTIRE time. He was almost monotonous and it made it difficult to finish.
Again, didn't hate it, but I wouldn't recommend this one, personally.

Intricate telling of well known Tudor women
Revisado: 05-04-24
I like how we got to hear how ingratiated these well known women were, though none of them were really that close. Lady Rochford in particular. We all know her but rarely hear things from her perspective. I did notice several instances of repetitiveness that messed with the flow but not so bad that it ruined the story. All in all, well done.

A different perspective of a well known story.
Revisado: 04-02-24
A tale as old as time, rewritten countless times gets a different perspective from someone very close to it all. Though not historically accurate in many ways, it's incredibly enlightening. Well done.
