Historia
Read by award-winning narrator Mike Vendetti, this short story by Philip K. Dick takes us where the powers of earth had finally exterminated the last of the horrible tribes of mutant freaks spawned by atomic war. Menace to homo sapien supremacy was about ended - but not quite. For out of the countryside, came a great golden, godlike youth whose extraordinary mutant powers, combining the world's oldest and newest methods of survival, promised a new and superior type of mankind.

Classic Sci Fi
Revisado: 11-23-23
This short story is written in the classic “drop you in the middle” technique of Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asimov – you get what you need as you go. And when the future is obvious, he stops the telling. I was disappointed only because the Next movie’s derivation, making the Golden Man look human with a camouflage of normality and making him fully articulate, makes him relatable. Whereas the original is merely an accident of atomic war – a bleak future projection from the nineteen fifties. I gave it 4 stars because I think it’s a Mt. Fuji experience. One must climb it, but only once.

Historia
Stephanie Grisham rose from being a junior press wrangler on the Trump campaign in 2016 to assuming top positions in the administration as White House press secretary and communications director, while at the same time acting as First Lady Melania Trump’s communications director and eventually chief of staff. Few members of the Trump inner circle served longer or were as close to the first family as Stephanie Grisham, and few had her unique insight into the turbulent four years of the administration, especially the personalities behind the headlines.

It cashes in – but paints an honest picture
Revisado: 10-16-21
I am not a fan of swearing. But I acknowledge the impact of quoting the swearers. It is rightly a positive view of Ms. Grisham’s main employer, Melania Trump, and I appreciated the picture afforded of an otherwise private person.
There is not a lot of venom wasted on the former President. Granted, it does explain how everyone played fast and loose with facts.
The conclusion is a good one – personal responsibility and introspection are valuable. If that message offends you, you will miss the point.

A great imagining – impossible to put aside
Revisado: 01-12-20
This story will remind you of Enders Game and Top Gun. But that’s just the nature of space warfare and dogfighting. The human interaction and the mystery of origins and lost history glued me to this story. The disadvantage of Audible over the written word is that when your eyes would fail and you’d put the book down, you can just continue into the wee hours of the night saying, “Okay. Just one more chapter …” Well done!
