Well read simple story in history
Revisado: 02-26-25
I liked the simple book. The sad story turned happy and crazy twist in the end to precipitate the swift end. Reminds me of the boxcar children series. A story possible only in the innocence of history long gone.

Historia
Brilliantly evoking the long-vanished world of masters and servants portrayed in Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs, Margaret Powell’s classic memoir of her time in service, Below Stairs, is the remarkable true story of an indomitable woman who, though she served in the great houses of England, never stopped aiming high. Powell first arrived at the servants' entrance of one of those great houses in the 1920s. As a kitchen maid - the lowest of the low - she entered an entirely new world; one of stoves to be blacked, vegetables to be scrubbed, mistresses to be appeased, and bootlaces to be ironed.

Historia
To the wider world, Al Pacino exploded onto the scene like a supernova. He landed his first leading role, in The Panic in Needle Park, in 1971, and by 1975, he had starred in four movies—The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon—that were not just successes but landmarks in the history of film. Those performances became legendary and changed his life forever. Not since Marlon Brando and James Dean in the late 1950s had an actor landed in the culture with such force.

Interesting and unique
Revisado: 10-28-24
I enjoyed hearing Mr Pacino’s story in his own voice. Having grown up in my parents video store in small town America, he contributed to our little family’s income with his blockbuster hits. I came to know him from Scent of a Woman and my introduction to Chris O’Donnell. The story was entertaining and riveting at times.
What a life well lived!
Prayers and blessings for many more years with your beautiful family.

Historia
In Wealth, Poverty, and Politics, Thomas Sowell, one of the foremost conservative public intellectuals in the country, argues that political and ideological struggles have led to dangerous confusion about income inequality in America. Pundits and politically motivated economists trumpet ambiguous statistics and sensational theories while ignoring the true determinant of income inequality: the production of wealth.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Loved hearing the story by my favorite NextGens
Revisado: 02-22-23
I loved hearing the story read and acted out by my favorite Brent/Data as well as all the voices of my favorite NextGen characters/actors but I didn’t care for the warped story. I would love to say I enjoyed it but alas I cannot.
Mr Spiner, please try again with another story perhaps something not so gritty.

I loved this book and stayed up all night listening as long as i could bear. i love the author and her work. This is the 2nd story in a historical fiction series that takes familiar characters from the other Nancy Moser book called Masquerade. I loved hearing all the different accents for the different ethnic groups. The book was delicious!
