I enjoyed the entire book. The story flows smoothly and I never felt the need to skip parts. The foreshadowing of character development was nice. The story plot and structure appeals to a broader audience. The story is an easy read and enjoyable. I look forward to reading the next installment of this series.

I thought going back to school would be fun. After all, we’re adults now–no angst-ridden teen dramas here–and we’re all law-enforcement recruits training to become State Troopers. Surely we’ll work together like professionals, right? Wrong. One of my fellow recruits has it in for me. If I didn’t know better, I’d think I’d peed in his cereal or corrected his grammar in public, but I swear I’ve done nothing to deserve the daggers he’s throwing my way.

I’m pleased to say that this story is a nice easy read. The ebb and flow is quite nice. Heather’s books are fun little reads with enough depth to keep me interested. But not so deep that it becomes a chore. I’m looking forward to the next installment.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story of their survival as told through the chief’s eyes allowed me to feel, in part, their strength and resilience. The raft is on display at the Naval Air museum in Pensacola Florida. I recommend reading this book to everyone who has an interest in history and the human spirit.
