Historia
For months, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. With each kill, the tangled network of monsters responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians becomes increasingly clear. He is given his next target: a plump Libyan diplomat who is prone to drink and is currently in Paris without a single bodyguard. Rapp finds him completely unprotected and asleep in his bed. With confidence in his well-honed skills and conviction of the man’s guilt, he easily sends a bullet into the man’s skull. But in the split second it takes the bullet to leave the silenced pistol, everything changes.

Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the scenes - obscure Bible verses, odd symbols - have the police stumped. Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are in Baronville visiting Alex's sister and her family. It's a bleak place: a former mill and mining town with a crumbling economy and rampant opioid addiction. Decker has been there only a few hours when he stumbles on a horrific double murder scene.

Historia
Al Franken, Giant of the Senate is a book about an unlikely campaign that had an even more improbable ending: the closest outcome in history and an unprecedented eight-month recount saga, which is pretty funny in retrospect. It's a book about what happens when the nation's foremost progressive satirist gets a chance to serve in the United States Senate and, defying the low expectations of the pundit class, actually turns out to be good at it.

If you are a closed minded right winger, don't bother with this book, you will hate it. from moderates to progressive thinkers this is an excellent listen. I say listen because Franken adds so much color in his narration. Thanks senator for a very enlightening book.

But on the eve of his promotion, events conspire to lure him into the field for one final operation. ISIS has detonated a massive bomb in the Marais district of Paris, and a desperate French government wants Gabriel to eliminate the man responsible before he can strike again.

Too much misinformed politics
Revisado: 08-31-16
What disappointed you about The Black Widow?
The political spin against the US and its allies was absurd. Mr. Silva apparently lives in a conservative news bubble where current events are highly distorted.
Would you ever listen to anything by Daniel Silva again?
I've listened to several and enjoyed them, but after this fiasco I'm probably done.
Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?
Mr. Guidall is a masterful voice artist and all his characters were equally well done.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
It made me angry to hear the misinformed political rhetoric.

An anonymous tip puts Bosch on a case that has remained unsolved for decades, the vicious stabbing of a teenage boy whose body was found in an abandoned Old Hollywood restaurant. Cold cases are often the toughest: With no body, no murder scene, and no fingerprints, Bosch nevertheless gets lucky when DNA evidence from the murder weapon points to a known killer. But the DA insists that science alone is not enough - he needs the case to be bulletproof before he'll take it to court.

Bare Bones
Revisado: 01-20-14
What disappointed you about Switchblade?
When I purchased this I did not realize it was just a short story. My bad, need to pay attention. But it is really a bare bones story and does not satisfy. It certainly does not compare to other Connelly tales involving Harry Bosch.
Has Switchblade turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, but I'll be more careful when buying audiobooks in the future, making sure they are full length novels.

A very real and emotional story of war
Revisado: 10-30-13
Would you listen to Pacific Glory again? Why?
I rarely listen to books a second time but this is one that might be worth hearing again. The story is so realistic and of course the performance by Dick Hill is very engaging.
What did you like best about this story?
The author did not glorify war despite the title. It was a look into the hearts and minds of people facing a powerful enemy, the prospect of certain pain and death and finding the courage to carry on.
Which character – as performed by Dick Hill – was your favorite?
Marsh, the protagonist.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I had a hard time turning it off and found myself looking for reasons to take a drive so I could listen to more.
Any additional comments?
The author's notes at the end very much helped put this story in perspective. Mr. Deutermann had a distinguished naval career as did his father who actually lived through the battles highlighted in the book.
As a combat veteran myself, there were times that this story made very emotional and I actually shed some tears for those men who never made it back.

Revisado: 03-07-11
What a terrific story. I loved this book. There were so many themes that parallel my own life and issues I have dealt with. I'm sure many a listener will feel the same way. Here you experience the demise of both a human and a canine who find each other and reluctantly team up to climb out of their misfortune and find redemption through profound personal change. I loved the reading device of using two distinct voices for the dog and human sides of the story. I highly recommend this audio-book
