Enjoyable, hopeful & informative stories
Revisado: 01-23-25
I’m a huge fan of Shane and Hannah Burcaw, and have been waiting for this book for a while. It was good to hear all the couple’s love stories. I would’ve even loved to hear more stories and statistics. I didn’t care for all the voice actors as some of the original couple’s playful dialogue & humor was lost in translation. It would’ve been great to hear the actual couple’s voices, but that probably would’ve been a much more difficult thing to acquire. It was a good audible read overall. Shane & Hannah are always hilarious and wonderful. I’m so glad that they are teaching the world so much about love, accessibility, ableism and being Interabled. Hannah’s last line during the acknowledgments, had me roaring with laughter. Great way to end my listening adventure with Interabled.

Very well read & shared
Revisado: 01-21-25
I think Gypsy did an excellent job telling a very difficult story and I was actually amazed to hear her be such a forgiving soul of her mother’s cruelties & how Gypsy sees herself as neither victim or criminal. I definitely recommend the book. I would say my main disappointment is in whoever handled the audiobook recording, as they made a couple of errors with a couple of lines repeating, etc… I just feel like Gypsy’s story deserved better care and should not have those errors in her audiobook. However those audio errors did not affect the overall story. The book could’ve been longer with a lot more details and emotion, but this instead, is a more concise story. I felt like she did a pretty classy job in delivering what was a very traumatic story of her childhood and transformative early adulthood. Many prayers & blessings to Gypsy, her baby, Ken & family.

The man who brought the kavorka to the Seinfeld show through one of the most remarkable and beloved television characters ever invented, Kramer, shares the extraordinary life of a comedy genius—the way he came into himself as an artist, the ups and downs as a human being, the road he has traveled in search of understanding.

Seinfeld stories were fun- the rest not so much.
Revisado: 10-03-24
I could feel his struggle to be authentic in his voice- which started off as Kramer/character like and took many chapters to calm down into himself. It was overall an okay read. I still don’t think he got there with intimately sharing who he really is & probably because he still doesn’t know. So many conflicting ideas are swirling about his cosmos. He drolls on about religious & worldly philosophies. He seemingly combines concepts from them all & turns them into non-sensical metaphors to lift himself up, to give his life meaning. I gained more insight into Michael Richards for sure & enjoyed the Seinfeld behind the scenes stories. He recognizes that his journey isn’t over hoping in his reincarnation- but I hope, like I do for all of us, that he continues to evolve in this, his only lifetime.

Historia
Brynn Evason had always been on the fence about going to college, but RCU’s Arts for All program won her over with its accessible dorms, personal care assistants (PCAs), and independent studies in which she’ll learn more about the things she loves to do, including songwriting. She’s looking forward to a fresh start, especially since her relationship with Tommy came to a screeching halt during the summer. Her best friend, Randi, encourages her to keep her eyes open for cute guys on campus, but Brynn doesn’t think she’s ready to date again.

Book #4 of an exceptional & enjoyable series.
Revisado: 05-04-24
I have really enjoyed all of Sara Pyszka’s books. They’re well written, sustain your interest & give a rare glimpse into her unique world. I love the “Just Be” series because Brynn Evason is a distinctive character who not only is full of life, personality & talent; she also has cerebral palsy which limits her mobility & audible speech. Her desires are the same as anyone, yet she must navigate a world that can be judgemental, impatient & even ignore her as she uses her “techno talk” device to speak. Brynn types words with her eyes, (a real technology that many more people need access to). This book is about a young adult finding her independence, social groups, honing her skills and gifting all the while trying to balance personal care givers & being heard. I’m already looking forward to book #5.
Overall, I think the narrator’s voice is perfect for the main character, Brynn & the other female characters in the book. My only cons in this book would be the irritating & fast voice of Trevor and the slowness in which Tommy speaks - both of which, in my opinion, seemed to be a distraction and/or took away from their characters.

The narrator mutilated these beloved characters
Revisado: 03-14-24
I have listened to maybe 15+ Red River & Blessings stories - So I was excited to find another piece to the puzzle that I had missed - but wow, the narrator made the characters sounds like caricatures of themselves. The accents were exaggerated & cartoonish. I wanted to know the details so I stuck with it, fast forwarding at times but wow, this was the wrong narrator for this book. Sad.

Exceptional narrator, she’s read three other books in another series & never ceases to amaze me with her talent. Story was honest about relationships & settling into a harsh land after coming to America for a better life. It ended with hope. I look forward to continuing the series.
