Historia
Brooke Nolan is a battered child who makes an anonymous phone call about the escalating brutality in her home. When social services jeopardize her safety, condemning her to keep her father's secret, it's a glass of spilled milk at the dinner table that forces her to speak about the cruelty she's been hiding. In her pursuit of safety and justice, Brooke battles a broken system that pushes to keep her father in the home.

Very Brave Girl
Revisado: 08-06-18
There were a few issues with this book. One was that it repeats a part very early on. I ignored it an continued listening because I was interested in the story. The author had no inflection in her voice so I believe another narrator would have approved the overall experience but I understand why she would want to narrate this story. My experience has been that authors normally aren't good narrators lol. The story was written well. The author is extremely brave and I believe this book should be recommended reading for anyone looking to understand the cycle of abuse.

Historia
When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

This book was underwhelming.
Revisado: 01-22-18
Would you try another book from Sarah Pekkanen and Greer Hendricks and/or Julia Whelan?
I would probably give them a second try because the writing was fine however the story was lackluster.
Would you recommend The Wife Between Us to your friends? Why or why not?
I would not recommend this book to anyone. I continued to listen to this book due to the stellar reviews and the huge twist that was supposed to come at the end. There was a twist but it wasn't enough to make me forget how boring the rest of the book was. I kept waiting for something to happened and it never really did. It felt like a lifetime movie and that's not really my thing.
What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Nothing really. She was fine enough but she added nothing to the story.
Any additional comments?
This book reminded me of the Last Mrs. Parrish but the Last Mrs. Parrish was a much better listen.

Historia
Hannah and Kate became friends in the fifth grade, when Hannah hit a boy for looking up Kate's skirt with a mirror. While they've been close as sisters ever since, Hannah can't help but feel envious of the little family Kate and her husband, David, have created - complete with two perfect little girls. She and Ben have been trying for years to have a baby, so when they receive the news that she will likely never get pregnant, Hannah's heartbreak is overwhelming. But just as they begin to tentatively explore the other options, it's Kate's turn to do the rescuing.

How is it possible to dislike all the characters?
Revisado: 12-01-16
I found the two main characters to be whiny and annoying. I did something that I have never done before and that is fast forwarded to the end. The ending was the only redeeming quality of this book.
