Another Fabulous Adventure
Revisado: 03-01-25
I love visiting the world that Sara Donati has created. This book is so satisfying because it combines characters from Paradise and Manhattan with new characters. The constant is the Bonner clan. So many wonderful stories are found within this novel. If you enjoyed the previous books, you will love this one. Very satisfying.

Historia
Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race”, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of Black women and men - bodies exploited through slavery and segregation and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a Black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son.

Narrator detracts from great story
Revisado: 09-16-22
When I was listening to The Pearl Broach all of Lowry’s books were available on Kindle Unlimited. That was good because if I had only audible I would probably have missed this wonderful tale. The narration was so off putting! Why when Audible had a tremendously talented narrator in Teri Schnaubelt did they change to this narrator. If French was the problem, I bet she could have solved the problem. It was a devastatingly poor decision on Audible’s part not to do everything possible to keep her with this series.
The story is full of wonder; the narrator is embarrassing.

He is now the Tai-Pan—Supreme Leader—of all Tai-Pans in China. Along the way, however, he made a powerful enemy. Tyler Brock, Struan’s rival from their early opium-smuggling days, also heads a large trading fleet, second in size only to Struan’s.
