If you're a fan of Jesse you'll enjoy this audiobook. Funny, witty and informative. The only slight negative was the format where Jesse and another narrator read alternating parts. It was a little confusing at times. Highly recommend.

I love medical / trauma books and this one did not disappoint. Educational and humorous accounts of surgical trauma cases. The one thing I could have done without is the author slipping in his gun control opinions at several points in the book.

The content is informative and very interesting. The performance is gawd-awful. The poor editing makes it very difficult to listen to. To me it sounds like individual words are strung together with no consideration regarding tone, inflection or pace. The speed fluctuates. It sounds robotic. This could have been a great audiobook if someone with a pleasant voice read it in a smooth, flowing manner.

I was pleasantly surprised that the material goes beyond skimming the surface. I studied biology and neuroscience in college many years ago and found the content to be a great refresher. I also learned a lot of new information. As for the reader, it was barely tolerable. Narrator sounded nasally, whiny, high pitched and just overall annoying.

My interest in the subject matter wavered at times but overall I found it very interesting and informative. As someone who was a police officer during the height of the “war on drugs” I agree with most of the author’s perspective that it caused much more harm to America than good. Supporting statistics and anecdotal evidence is presented. Unfortunately, the reading performance made it barely tolerable. The reader’s natural voice and British accent is actually fairly pleasant. However, he frequently quotes people involved using the most god-awful attempt at American accents and dialects imaginable. Much of it sounds like mocking Americans, especially when he attempts southern US accents. My advice is buy the printed book.
