Worst Ending! (Spoilers)

The book just stopped with several story lines unresolved. Was Torrence rescued? Did Torrence and Reed overcome their differences and end up together? Why can she do dark magic when she supposedly shouldn’t have been able to? Was the faerie realm saved from the plague? Were the half bloods freed? What about the colony in the Northland? Was there an uprising? What about Lilith and the weird dragon scene? What did she do with the dragon heart? Did the demons gain an advantage because Selena and Torrence unmasked the dragon?

It’s like the author got tired of her own story so she basically said the end. The last book was written 4 years ago (2020) and there isn’t a sequel series. It seems like something would have been written by now if that was the intention. Very disappointing conclusion to the series.

No Plot

While an okay account of two people reconnecting after lost love, there was no plot or compelling story. Even the intended “villain” didn’t do anything notable. This should be a free listen.

Just an Audio Cookbook

I wish this author would go back to what made her series so fun to read at the beginning. There are more recipes and food commentary than story. Plot lines are becoming weaker and silly.

Poorly constructed

There are so many characters that keeping them straight is impossible, let alone having them change names. Dropped story lines are the norm.

I know this is make believe, but it’s set in this time with many references to current events, but the way the characters interact is not realistic. I found myself rooting for the bad guys to take out the main character that treats everyone she supposedly loves, horribly.

Save your credit!

The books became more and more implausible. I realize they are cozy mysteries and intended to be a quick and light read, but even so they should at least sound somewhat possible. I only kept listening because I’d bought the boxed set and was determined to get my credit’s worth. Wish I hadn’t. The last book was the worst.

The main character is a doormat for just about everyone in her life. She never stands up for herself and apologizes to everyone. Even the strong male lead becomes a whimpering and right out deceitful person as time goes on.

Stupidest Ending Ever

I’m all for a happy ending, but it needs to be marginally realistic. The main character is constantly mistreated and lied to by the main character and his family, but alls well with a dance? She starts out sounding mousy, gains a backbone in the middle and becomes an empty headed twit in the end.

The narrator is awful. He needs to take a deep breath and relax his voice a little.

Good thing it was free or it would have been returned.

Don’t Bother

No “untouchable” bad guy
No chemistry

Totally awful

As others have remarked the only things this book has in common with the first five in the series are the characters’ names. A complete disappointment.

Nick is on the most wanted list, yet is in Jessop’s office as well as waltzing into a Chinese diplomat’s house. Nick’s only contribution seems to be as a concierge making travel arrangements and constantly whining for Kate to put out.

Kate is beyond her usual grouchy self. Probably because of the epic headache all her eye rolling is producing. She seems to only despise Nick except for the last minute of the book. She comes off like a bratty teenager.

There are so many repetitive descriptions it becomes difficult to listen to. If Lee Goldberg is still “unavailable” to co-author the next one, then they shouldn’t bother.

No plot

There was no real plot to this story. Many of the hours read like a history book. A lot of details were included that had no bearing at all on the story. The ending was very anticlimactic. I generally like this author, but this was not his best work.

Too many tangents

This book was not an easy listen. The author got too caught up in random details that had nothing to add to the story. This also made it difficult to follow the storyline. The epilogue with the main characters seemed random with no explanations as to how it related to the story. Odd book

Free fall sex impedes on otherwise good story of family coming together.

While it was a good story about a family coming together after being very disjointed, it was sad that so many of them were involved in grossly immoral behavior. Was nice at the end all of them except the grandson were on the right track.
