Atlas by DJ Krimmer in audio? Whew. That wasn’t just a listen—it was an experience. I went in expecting a cute marriage of convenience, and came out clutching my headphones like, “Why am I crying in the produce aisle??” 😭🥒

💘 The story:
Atlas is a big, tatted softie with a heart of gold and grade-A protective instincts. Ren is a sarcastic, strong, plus-size heroine who’s juggling a chronic illness, messy family dynamics, and a seriously relatable self-worth journey. Together? Literal magic. The way they show up for each other made me believe in love all over again.

I couldn't rate it 5 stars because these two would not admit their feelings if their lives depended on it. Like... you’re married, you're making heart eyes across the room, you’re emotionally bonding through acts of service and vulnerability and still calling it fake? Be serious. 😭 The slow burn was chef’s kiss, but the emotional repression had me throwing imaginary shoes.

Still, this audiobook felt like someone whispering “you’re safe now” in the quietest parts of your soul. And that’s worth everything. 💫

This had the setup to blow me away—hot, broody professor? Storm-chasing? Age gap? Yes, please. But sadly, it felt more like a gust of wind than a full-blown hurricane.

The plot barely held together. The emotional depth got lost in all the smut, and the characters felt more like tropes than real people. Plus, the narration mix was hit-or-miss and pulled me out of the story.

aka: I came for the baby contract, stayed for the banter, and left with mixed feelings.

Okay, listen. I wanted to love this book. It had all the ingredients for a delicious, spicy small-town romcom:
✔️ A broody, bearded mountain man who wants a baby but not a relationship (sir, okay...)
✔️ A scrappy, sunshine-y heroine with big dreams and zero time for BS
✔️ Forced proximity, a fake-ish relationship, and... a literal baby contract? SIGN ME UP.

BUT.

While this had moments, the overall execution didn’t quite deliver that knockout punch for me. It was cute, it was quirky, it had potential—but it also felt a little surface-level when I wanted more emotional depth.

🪵 Wyatt is peak grump. Like, grump of the year award. He’s emotionally walled-off and makes a very logical, slightly cold decision to have a baby with no strings attached.
🐾 Trista is feisty, fun, and came to this mountain town to start an animal rescue—but ends up signing up to carry Wyatt’s baby instead. Girl, blink twice if you need help.

Their chemistry? It was there, but it felt more tepid tea than slow-burn wildfire. Some of the banter made me smile, but a few moments dipped into cheesy instead of charming. I wanted more genuine connection before we jumped into big emotional decisions.

Quote that kinda sums it up:

“I don’t want forever. I just want a baby.”
Trista: blinks in rom-com disbelief

Also, Wyatt's whole “no love, just baby” rule was giving ✨robot with a sperm bank✨ vibes for too long. I wanted him to soften sooner so I could fall for him the way I know I was supposed to.

That said—it’s a fun, quick read with some sweet moments and the promise of more drama (and steam 👀) in future books. If you’re looking for a quirky romcom with a non-traditional setup and can roll with a little emotional whiplash, you’ll still have a good time.

This gave me everything I wanted—angst, spice, a broody hockey player with a gooey center, and a strong-as-hell single mom who does not play about her kid. This is the third book in the Sparrow Falls series and trust me, the vibes are immaculate. Small town, slow burn, emotional healing... all wrapped in a suspense plot that had me clutching my metaphorical pearls.

Sutton is a single mom with trauma scars and steel in her spine. She’s just trying to build a safe life for her son and keep her heart on lockdown.
Cope, the NHL player with some demons of his own, walks into town all hot, haunted, and unexpectedly wholesome. Like, he buys a booster seat for her son before he and Sutton even start dating 😭.

“He saw my bruises and didn’t flinch—he just stayed, steady and warm, like maybe I didn’t have to be afraid anymore.”

Cue the melting.

Their chemistry? DELICIOUS. 🔥 It's a slow simmer, but when it boils over? Girl.

“I wasn’t just falling for her. I was gone. There was no coming back from her.”

Excuse me while I scream into a pillow.

There’s some suspense woven through the story that adds tension without hijacking the romance. Honestly, the pacing was solid—though I’ll admit, a few moments were a tiny bit predictable, which is why this isn’t a full 5-star moment for me. But the emotional payoff? Worth it.

This is a gritty, dark MC romance that dives headfirst into obsession, protection, and the complicated, steamy relationship between a hardened ex-Marine and an innocent witness.

Gabriel Wolfe is that kind of alpha—possessive, unfiltered, and driven by instinct. He’s the kind of guy who says stuff like “I don’t ask permission to take what’s already mine” and fully means it.

Brinley is soft, sheltered, and totally out of her element, but Wolfe sees something in her. One line that hit me: “You were always a warrior, little hummingbird, you just never knew it.” Their relationship is all about that push-pull tension, and while the chemistry is fire, I wish there’d been more emotional layering to back it up.

There’s a nice moment of softness too— “We all have angels watching over us… Maybe it’s time to slow down a little. Let them catch up.” It gave the story a little heart between all the chaos. And Wolfe's obsession runs deep: “I own all your fear, little hummingbird. No one else can have it.” It’s romantic in a dark, dangerous kind of way.

My main critique? Some parts felt rushed or over-the-top, and the “insta” connection didn’t always land for me. But when Wolfe says, “The way I feel about you, Brinley, a word as simple as love isn’t enough. You’re the blood in my veins,” you kinda get swept up in it.

If you're into gritty, fast-burn romances with dangerous alphas and vulnerable heroines, this will hit the spot.

Loved the grumpy/sunshine setup and house setting, but the constant back-and-forth between Jamie and Calvin felt more exhausting than exciting. Some sweet moments, but the emotional swings and rushed pacing made it hard to connect. A decent read, just didn’t leave a lasting mark for me.

Rereading White Knight on audio was an experience. Sebastian York and Andi Arndt just get these characters — every emotion, every high-stakes moment, every steamy scene is delivered perfectly. I caught so many little things I missed the first time too.

Drew/Memphis and Cannon's story wraps up in the most satisfying way — still full of surprises, still all the feels. The love, the loyalty, the growth?? Ugh, I love them so much. Cannon proves he’s not just a badass — he’s all heart underneath that tough exterior. And Memphis stays holding her own, always.

Honestly, this duet just hits. Whether it’s your first read or a reread like mine, the story holds up. And the audio makes it even better.

Gareth, I wanted more.

Okay, so Kiss the Villain definitely brought the dark, obsessive vibes Rina Kent is known for—but I just wanted Gareth to be different, like he was portrayed in the previous books. He felt more extreme and less layered here, and that threw me off a bit.

The chemistry between him and Kayden is intense—no doubt there. But their connection didn’t hit me the way I hoped. It leaned more on shock and steam than emotional depth, and some moments felt a little over-the-top or rushed.

Still, there were glimpses of the kind of story I wanted this to be. It had potential, and fans of dark romance will probably still eat this up. For me, though, it didn’t quite live up to the buildup from earlier in the series.

I enjoyed the writing, and Emilia and Vicious had good chemistry and that addictive push/pull dynamic. I was not a fan of the flashbacks and Emilia's past relationship with Dean.

Now let's talk about Vicious. I honestly don't know how I ended up rooting for him by the end. Like, seriously, what was I thinking? The toxicity in this book is next level, and yet... here I am. It's definitely not a healthy relationship, but somehow by the end I was caught up in it.

The story did kind of drag, which did cause me to keep putting it down to start other books. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue this series or not. I don't really like the premise for the next book.

I did not enjoy this couple.
It wasn't about the age gap or anything. It's the way she just let him walk all over her.
The 26 women from camp and the toe really grossed me out.
