Historia
Humans are a varied and divergent bunch with all manner of beliefs, morals, and bodies. Systems of oppression thrive off our inability to make peace with difference and injure the relationship we have with our own bodies. The Body Is Not an Apology offers radical self-love as the balm to heal the wounds inflicted by these violent systems. World-renowned activist and poet Sonya Renee Taylor invites us to reconnect with the radical origins of our minds and bodies and celebrate our collective, enduring strength.

a must listen

I do wish there had been a bit more discussion, but overall the book is excellent. Sonya makes her points and describes frameworks for moving forward. She writes with ompassion but does not shy away from hard or difficult topics.
I would recommend this book to anyone with a body.

Historia
For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those who enter these mythical places of power: why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart.

Go for a dungeon dive

I have really enjoyed listening to Vikas in other books so I decided to try this one.
I wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed it, having osmoted enough fantasy rpg knowledge from my husband that I enjoyed the nods to that world in this book. The characters are engaging and funny. This book had just enough dramatic irony to make me shake a fist at the characters who don't know what I know, without frustrating me entirely.

Historia
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Pleasantly surprised
Revisado: 07-07-11
I really enjoyed this book. The narrator was excellent, the book interesting and well put together. I didn't really enjoy the voice used for Oberon, but understand the direction they were trying to go. A few folks have complained he doesn't sound like a 2000 year old druid, but if they'd been listening intently they'd know why. Besides, I would choose the distinction between characters that this narrator was able to produce over one that sounded like an ancient druid.
There was a surprisingly wide range of characters and the asides to explain the workings of the beyond-mortal were surprisingly unobtrusive and usually flowed with the story. I think that anyone who enjoyed American Gods might enjoy this.

Good Listen

I had read two or three other books in the 500 Kingdoms series. They aren't great works of literature but they are inventive and fun. I enjoy the author's work so I picked this one up.
It was good, the story pans back and forth between two areas of focus for much of the book, which was a little difficult at first because there's often no marker to indicate the switch. I was irked at the pronunciation of the word "mage," but other than that the narrator did an excellent job, even the accents were good.
The story was interesting and engaging, and I didn't see the ending coming. I would recommend the book to any fantasy lover as an interesting view on fairytales.
