Historia
Considered to be one of the most important philosophical works of all time, the History of Western Philosophy is a dazzlingly unique exploration of the ideologies of significant philosophers throughout the ages - from Plato and Aristotle through to Spinoza, Kant and the 20th century. Written by a man who changed the history of philosophy himself, this is an account that has never been rivaled since its first publication over 60 years ago.

A very comprehensive history of philosophy
Revisado: 05-02-24
I like how he divided the chapters into each philosopher in chronological order. Also contextualizing each philosopher with the history relevant to their lives. The way he alludes to the current world he is writing this book in, WW2, I find very satisfying.

Since the beginning of human history Mars has been an alluring dream - the stuff of legends, gods, and mystery. The planet most like ours, it has still been thought impossible to reach, let alone explore and inhabit. Now with the advent of a revolutionary new plan, all this has changed. Leading space exploration authority Robert Zubrin has crafted a daring new blueprint, Mars Direct, presented here with engaging anecdotes. The Case for Mars is not a vision for the far future or one that will cost us impossible billions.

Thought provoking and speculative
Revisado: 03-31-22
I love the idea of current society working to colonize the solar system and robert zubrin has a clear plan on how we can do it. This book is motivating but also frustrating because it shows how unable the USA is at making steps towards that goal due to political stagnation. I don’t know chemistry or rocket science and I’m not sure if his ideas are practical in reality although they certainly sound so. Definitely worth a read if you want to visit space someday.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

This book was very hard to stop listening to. The narration was very good especially the accents for the diary entries. The story obviously an incredible one and a true one which reminds me that fact is often more incredible than fiction.

Inspiring book that gives pride and humility to humanity
Revisado: 03-14-22
The few chapters narrated by carl Sagan remind me of how great of a speaker he was and how he brought science to everyone. The chapters narrated by his wife are a little less fun to listen to but the content is no less engaging.

Developing video games—hero's journey or fool's errand? The creative and technical logistics that go into building today's hottest games can be more harrowing and complex than the games themselves, often seeming like an endless maze or a bottomless abyss. In Blood, Sweat, and Pixels, Jason Schreier takes listeners on a fascinating odyssey behind the scenes of video game development, where the creator may be a team of 600 overworked underdogs or a solitary geek genius.

Deep insight into the world of game development
Revisado: 03-10-22
I enjoyed this book and it gave an intimate story of several game studio struggles. I play a lot of the games from the studios mentioned in this book and it was humbling to hear what they go through to make great games. The author of this book did a great job giving behind the scenes details of the inner workings of big studios during turbulent times which made this book very much worthwhile.

Historia
On the morning of May 20, 1927, a little-known pilot named Charles Lindbergh waited to take off from Roosevelt Field on Long Island. He was determined to claim the $25,000 Orteig Prize promised to the first pilot to fly nonstop from New York to Paris - a contest that had already claimed six men's lives. Just 25 years old, Lindbergh had never before flown over water. Yet 33 hours later, his single-engine monoplane, The Spirit of St. Louis, touched down in Paris.

This book was written with a great balance between historical context and thrilling cockpit narration. The book makes you feel like you get to know Charles Lindbergh better than the people of his own time. The storytelling during the flight kept me on the edge of my seat as if I didn’t know how it would end. Truly an entertaining and enlightening book

Revisado: 03-02-22
Wlad has an incredible personal story to tell in this book. It’s quite amazing what he was able to accomplish. The book provides a lot of good insight into the game industry. He is highly motivating and gives realistic advise. And even though at first when he starts discussing how to handle publisher deals and launch day prep it seems a bit much to tell someone just starting game dev, it becomes apparent that you need to consider these things as early as possible which I found very interesting.

A lot of fun to listen too. And a great call to action
Revisado: 02-17-22
This book was a lot of fun to listen too and gives a lot of good technical information on rocket science. It’s not too dense in jargon but doesn’t feel patronizing by leaving info out. I read this book right after the penguin book on the history of space exploration which was cool because it seems to pick up exactly where that book left off. I think I also might be joining the mars society and become a space captain.

A lot of good and interesting information.
Revisado: 02-11-22
I really liked this book and it has a wealth of great info on the history of nasa and space flight. The first hand documents that are read are a cool insight to the nasa program during the Apollo mission and other periods however, there’s a decent amount of repeated info between documents that feels a bit unnecessary. Overall very informative and interesting. Especially the first hand documents from the astronauts on apollo missions.
