Couldn't Get Past the Reader
Revisado: 01-18-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A different reader of the story... it would have at least allowed me to continue listening. This persons reading style was just something that I couldn't get around. I did try... I believe I got through over an hour of the book but that's all I could handle.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
As stated above I just couldn't get past her reading style. Others mentioned it in previous reviews but in other books I've been able to soldier on... I wasn't able to with this one.
The story here might actually be good... so, next time I run out of credits and need to listen to something I will probably give this one another go. If I do and I'm able to get through it I will update this review.

Historia
The Forest of Assassins is a historic thriller set in the earliest days of the American involvement in the Vietnam War. It involves the earliest of Navy SEAL teams. It is set in a time when the Navy still did not admit these men existed - much less had they determined if those units would survive until the next conflict, or if the experiment would be abandoned.

Military Read
Revisado: 11-10-15
Any additional comments?
The story itself was ok, however, it relied on multiple generalities and there wasn't anything that could be called a surprise during the listen. My main issue with this audiobook is the reader... very monotone, slow and military-ish. He did get out of the monotone while he tried to use different voices for separate characters but overall that was maybe 20-30% of the book. I almost ditched it but since it really wasn't all that long I went ahead and stayed with it.

Historia
Logen Ninefingers, infamous barbarian, has finally run out of luck. Caught in one feud too many, he's on the verge of becoming a dead barbarian - leaving nothing behind him but bad songs, dead friends, and a lot of happy enemies. Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. But war is brewing, and on the battlefields of the frozen North they fight by altogether bloodier rules.

Excellent Start to a Series
Revisado: 10-27-15
Where does The Blade Itself rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This one is up there... I liked the character definition and story line very much and it has me hooked in to getting the next book... and more than likely the third in the series as well.
Any additional comments?
The only thing I believe this book could have done better is in world building. They mention different areas during the different sections of the book but could not get a real feel for where the characters were in the overall scheme of the world.

What disappointed you about FREE: Locke & Key?
I was the most disappointed in that this was basically a play and not a book reading. With that said the actors in it were good and the story was ok but it's easy to get lost and not know where things are at any given time.
