Historia
Something akin to peace has come to the Underdark. The demon hordes have receded, and now the matron mothers argue over the fate of Drizzt Do'Urden. Even so, it becomes clear to one matriarch after another that while the renegade drow may come and go, Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders, will crawl forever on. And so Drizzt is free to return to his home on the surface once again. Scores are settled as lives are cut short, yet other lives move on. For the lone drow, there is only a single final quest: a search for peace, for family, for home.

Possibly the best
Revisado: 02-01-23
In the realm of the best book series ever, this might be one of the best books. Which means it might be one of the best books ever. Many would disagree due to the curious discordant feeling the instability of Drizzt brings, but the rollercoaster provided and intense joy is something I didn’t know the entertainment industry was capable of.
love.
(Starlight enclave gives me hope this statement is false) :)

Probably not a popular opinion
Revisado: 08-18-21
I’ll preface this review by saying I’m a big Luke Daniels fan, I love fantasy and scifi, and I listen to a lot of audiobooks (close to a book per week).
Basically, this book should have right up my alley, and I assumed as much. Unfortunately, I only made it about 2hrs before writing this.
The way the author tells the story just isn’t enjoyable. There isn’t any of that charm or excitement I’ve come to expect from books that Daniels narrates. The main character is an overly cliché “I don’t care about stuff but now I have power and responsibilities” conflict. Everything feels like a very typical and bland setup for this kind of setting.
To sum it all up, the first 2 hours made me feel like I wouldn’t want to be friends with the author.

THE Best
Revisado: 09-02-20
Without going into too much detail. This is the greatest book series of all time. With Victor Bevine narrating, there isn’t even a close 2nd. It’s very unfortunate that the series isn’t completely Victor, as the books with other narrators are important books and tough to get through without Victor narrating. I will re-read all 30 something books of Victor goes back to narrate the missing ones.

Since the 1970s, FantasticLand has been the theme park where "Fun is Guaranteed!" But when a hurricane ravages the Florida coast and isolates the park, the employees find it anything but fun. Five weeks later, the authorities who rescue the survivors encounter a scene of horror. Photos soon emerge online of heads on spikes outside of rides and viscera and human bones littering the gift shops, breaking records for hits, views, likes, clicks, and shares.

Still think about this book all the time
Revisado: 08-22-20
I listened to this title, for the first time, about a year and a half ago, and I still found myself thinking about it often. I listened again recently, and it was just as exhilarating the second time. It’s definitely the kind of book that stays with you. I remember each time after listening for a few chapters, it would hang on my conscience for hours.
Overall, it’s truly an amazing book. Well-written with perfect narration by both Daniels and Dawe. I wish I knew of more titles like this one.
To anyone considering listening to or reading this, keep in mind that it isn’t for the feint of heart, but it’s an incredible book and absolutely worth the purchase.

Historia
One morning, traveling salesman Gregor Samsa wakes from an anxious dream to discover that he has inexplicably changed into a monstrous insect. Nonetheless, life goes on, and poor Gregor is left to deal not only with the existential questions of who or what he now is but also with more mundane concerns: his job (which he fears he’ll lose), his loved ones (whom he fears he disgusts), and the daily indignities of everyday life (which continue apace). Soon, even those who sympathize with his bizarre predicament begin to lose their patience....

Confusing, interesting, thought provoking, and a little tragic
Revisado: 12-14-19
I’m pretty sure I enjoyed it. I can definitely understand the reasons behind Kafka’s legacy after listening to this one.
It amazes me that a story as odd as this can invoke real emotion and contemplation about family, and life in general. Truly exemplifies the power and depth that can be reached in writing, regardless of subject matter.

Revisado: 08-09-18
Even when I love a book, I don’t normally go beyond simply rating 5 stars. But, this one deserves more. It’s incredible. It’s fun, witty, dark, action-packed, and exciting all at the same time. While constantly building the plot and character depth that already have you attached from the beginning.
It’s just a really great book. And if you’ve gotten as far as reading these reviews, just buy the damn thing, and thank me later.

Such great potential, poor execution
Revisado: 02-21-18
Told through the perspective of a 20-year-old, but feels like it was written by a 16-year-old. The characters have very little depth aside from the personality that Daniels gives them and the depth of their “voluptuous curves” as pointed out by the main character every other line.
The premise of the story is interesting but the author should really try to get himself laid before writing the next one. Save the ridiculous teenage sexual fantasies for a book where that might be relevant to the storyline in any way at all.

Pretty sad about this one
Revisado: 11-11-17
Luke Daniels and Kevin Hearne are the perfect pair. If you haven't listened to the Iron Druid Chronicles, you're missing out.
However, Xe Sands is miserable to listen to in this book. I didn't make it far before giving up. The ever-trailing-off way that she reads is unbearable. I'd be much happier with Daniels using one of his many female character voices than this weary, constantly breathless actress. Harsh, I know, but I was really looking forward to this one.

Hard to get through
Revisado: 10-24-13
I'm dedicated to get finishing the whole WOT series, but this one almost made me want to listen in double speed just to get through it. Also, the editing is terrible.... about 20 times the recording was repeated in about 30 second spans. Irritating to hear it happening AGAIN but necessary to mark this book as finished. Nice to find out what happened with Oliver and Matt since book 9 never said after book 8 left us with a cliffhanger.
