Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Just when I thought I couldn't love Robert Dugoni's work any more than I did, I came across this book. I couldn't stop listening and didn't want it to end. Robert is such an amazing storyteller. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
The year 1996 was the one that changed everything for Maggie Dawes. Sent away at 16 to live with an aunt she barely knew in Ocracoke, a remote village on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, she could think only of the friends and family she left behind...until she met Bryce Trickett, one of the few teenagers on the island. Handsome, genuine, and newly admitted to West Point, Bryce showed her how much there was to love about the wind-swept beach town - and introduced her to photography, a passion that would define the rest of her life. By 2019, Maggie is a renowned travel photographer.

BEST Nicholas Sparks Book!
Revisado: 01-15-22
This is by far and away Nicholas Sparks best book ever. Not only was the story powerful and raw, the narrators were fantastic. I've listened to this book 3x already. Such a beautiful and moving story.

Historia
In a small Southern town where loyalty to family and to "your people" carries the weight of a sacred oath, defying those unspoken rules can be a deadly proposition. After 15 years of growing up in the Ozark hills with his widowed mother, high-school freshman Boady Sanden is beyond ready to move on. He dreams of glass towers and cityscapes, driven by his desire to be anywhere other than Jessup, Missouri. The new kid at St. Ignatius High School, if he isn't being pushed around, he is being completely ignored.

Allen Eskens is by far and away my favorite author. He brings to life the history of one of his most beloved characters, Bodi Sanden. I was hooked from the beginning and could hardly stop listening. I can't wait for Allen's next book.

Revisado: 06-07-19
I can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed this book. The characters were well thought out and the story line kept me captivated. I shed many happy and sad tears. I didn't want to stop listening and I certainly did not want this story to end.

A few miles away, at a local rodeo, Sophia Danko, a senior at Wake Forest, meets a young cowboy named Luke. Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart.

Another Great Book By Nicholas Sparks
Revisado: 04-03-19
Nicholas Sparks wrote another fantastic book. January LaVoy and Ron McLarty did an excellent job as the narrators. The thing that really threw me off was not having a separate male narrator for the character of Luke. Having a female read his story was really distracting and it took away from the quality of the recording. Other than that, it was a really beautiful story.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, an occasion that is sure to be observed around the world. But among the memorials, political speeches, and news editorials, the most pressing consideration - and often the most overlooked - is the lives and well-being of the 9/11 first responders, their families, and the victims' families over the past decade. Dennis Smith, a former firefighter and the author of the bestselling Report from Ground Zero, addresses this important topic in a series of interviews....

Historia
On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, Michael Benfante went to work, just like he had day after day, at his office on 81st floor in the World Trade Center North Tower. Moments after the first plane struck, just 12 floors above him, Benfante organized his terrified employees, getting them out of the office and moving down the stairwells. On his way down, he and another co-worker encountered a woman in a wheelchair on the 68th floor.

Revisado: 01-07-19
Michael thank you for sharing your story with the world. It took a lot of courage for you to face that day and tell the world about it. I've ready many books regarding September 11th and this one really captured the reality of the situation and I didn't want to stop listening to it. Thank you for your heroism!
