Great story, horrible language

I was recommended to try Abercrombie and enjoyed the beginning. However, after a few chapters it became apparent that the author’s favorite words are all four lettered and his usage is extremely heavy. Tread lightly if vulgarity is not the only thing you enjoy consuming.

Stormlight moves woke like the bigshots…

Enjoyed several of the storylines and the performance was excellent. This series started out amazing but becomes more difficult to read as the characters move away from heroics and become more mundane. I want to like this book, but find it the end of my journey on Roshar. Ramping up woke ideals in multiple characters leaves behind a disappointing film that taints hours of invested time. A good storyteller was inevitably pulled into the muck that’s destroying Hollywood as he continues trying to get his stories broadcast on the big screens.

Great format and well written points on one point of view. Appreciated reading about Vince’s experience and debated opinions with historical facts as support. Sad to read about the dark history of America but with an inspirational urge to seek a greater future for all of America to heal the growing divisions.

Fantastic performance of a funny twist

The story was fun and felt like an enjoyable take on an old “story”. The full cast performance made for a fantastic listen and I enjoyed the humor. Funny storytelling. The heavy handed atheistic tone is a little overdone at times but if you can get past that, overall the book is a pleasant read.

Essential Reading for the Near Space Enthusiast

Book one: fantastic. Book two: better. Dennis spells out the real (non)world issues of departing Earth and heading for the nearest celestial bodies. Everything science fiction ignores is spelled out and explained in a way that shows how we feeble, fearless Earthlings can overcome space travel’s numerous obstacles, including how to set up an off-world colony.

I bought book one to help me study up on a sci fi story I’m developing and had to get book two to dig in further. I’m so glad I did. Thank you Dennis for sharing your knowledge, passion, and dreams of watching mankind push off this planet and explore our solar system. I hope to watch it happen as well and wish I was even a little closer to a front row seat.

Interesting view into the future…

AI is incredibly controversial. I think what the author has done with this book is fascinating, and considering that the bulk of the piece was done by AI, it reads fairly well. I found the ending unsatisfying but enjoyed the story overall. I think Stephen Marche has demonstrated a way that humans and artificial brains can work together and I hope this inspires a healthy new direction for AI assisted storytelling.

Textbook for Spacefarers

I can’t wait to dig in and write my sci fi novel. I just wish I could be a bigger part of the beautifully spelled out future Dennis lays out before mankind. I hope Elon has this on his desk as he has a tendency to innovate faster than anyone. Thank you Dennis for this thorough, thoughtful compendium of scientific knowledge.

Fun Story for Families

This first installment of the exciting series by Brandon Mull is a great book we read together as a family in paperback. The narration is a little hard to listen to but if you can play it at 1.2x speed it becomes more palatable. If they ever have the series re-done, it’d be a solid five stars.
