Historia
War has come to the Lands of Light, and the defenders of the Light look to Aranos to fight it. An army of urukkai marches on Eredain, the spider-people move against the dwarven Skollhelds, and a horde of Shadowborn descend on the Human Kingdoms. The elven capital of Cyva Alari has fallen, and the fiendish bodakkai rage freely in the forests under the thrall of the twisted, insane Traveler Lily.

Historia
Erik knew one thing after dropping in, when he first saw the numbers before his eyes, the rumors about the "cursed" were true. He was in another world. Survival wasn’t assured. Cultivate, get skills, grow abilities, or die. His old life, as a combat medic, had been hard, but he had learned some valuable lessons. And he wasn’t alone. His best friend, a marine recon sniper, like always, was right by his side. Could they figure out this fantasy world? What does it mean to ascend? How will they master the magic of this strange place?

two chapters in and not a good sentence written yet. if you like decent writing, this will frustrate you.

Historia
The Moon will soon return. Whether this heralds the destruction of humankind or something worse will depend on two women. Essun has inherited the power of Alabaster Tenring. With it, she hopes to find her daughter Nassun and forge a world in which every orogene child can grow up safe. For Nassun, her mother's mastery of the Obelisk Gate comes too late. She has seen the evil of the world, and accepted what her mother will not admit: That sometimes what is corrupt cannot be cleansed, only destroyed.

Good story, very good writing
Revisado: 08-06-18
Jemisin is a better writer than a lot of the fluff that is popular today. I read a lot and this one was a welcome upgrade in terms of using an educated vocabulary, artful prose, and good flow. The story is a really good story. Not overly obvious and has some fun mysteries that keep you reading.

The alliance of humans and renegade Fhrey is fragile - and about to be tested as never before. Persephone keeps the human clans from turning on one another through her iron will and a compassionate heart. The arrogant Fhrey are barely held in check by their leader, Nyphron, who seeks to advance his own nefarious agenda through a loveless marriage that will result in the betrayal of the person Persephone loves most: Raithe, the God Killer.

Finally a bit more of a payoff from Book 3
Revisado: 08-06-18
I enjoyed the first two books, but they were just a nice story. They lacked some intrigue, twists, big picture mysteries - that sort of thing. This book had more of this than the first two. Characters who are more than they seem, motives that are not as clear as you thought they were, etc. In these regards, Age of War really got this series back on track for me.
