A new book for my Favorites list!
Revisado: 09-15-24
An exceptional love story about people not on the mean. Heidi Cullinan is an incredible writer particularly good and writing characters with physical challenges. I was already a fan when I picked up audio books of works I’d read. Iggy Thome is a stunning narrator. His skill at creating unique and perfect character voices is beyond compare. So I went looking for more books narrated by him and found two Heidi Cullinan books I didn’t know about. Carry The Ocean is an incredible book about an autistic young man and a depressive disorder young man finding eachother and making their way in the world. It is also about the fantastic Roosevelt apartment building that I wish all special, and frankly all people on the mean could experience in their life. I loved every single word of this story and I can’t wait to listen to the Follow-up.

Historia
Ed Maurer has bounced back, more or less, from the neck injury that permanently benched his semi-pro football career. He hates his soul-killing office job, but he loves volunteering at a local community center. The only fly in his ointment is the dance instructor, Laurie Parker, who can't seem to stay out of his way.

A Favorite Come To Life
Revisado: 08-15-24
Dance With Me by Heidi Cullinan is a magnificent book that I have read several times. This audio book is pure magic. Iggy Toma brings all of the characters to life exactly as I heard them in my head. I will definitely look for other titles he has narrated. An absolute must listen. I look forward to repeat listens of Laurie and Ed’s journey to healing and love. Ms. Cullinan perfectly captures the world of dance and ballroom as well as that of chronic pain. It’s a beautiful story.

His father, CEO of HayesOil, passes control of the corporation to his two sons; but a stipulation is attached to Riley's portion. Concerned about Riley's lack of maturity, his father requires that Riley 'marry and stay married for one year to someone he loves'. Fabulous!!
Revisado: 03-10-23
I own the book and previously heard Sean Crisden read Frog by Mary Calmes and knew he’d be perfect. Jack and Riley get married out of necessity but grow to love each other through all the secrets of Riley’s Dallas aristocracy. It’s the perfect combination of material and performance. I highly recommend.

Historia
Garrick Rodenheiser crashed, burned, and found a second chance when he crawled away from the wreckage of his life four years ago. And while he hasn't exactly escaped his past, he's kept it far enough away. Until trouble in the form of a rain-soaked, bleeding woman comes banging on the door of his remote cabin. True, she doesn't look like a reporter. But the word trust simply isn't in Garrick's vocabulary anymore.

Disappointing way to treat a favorite book.
Revisado: 10-28-22
I adore Twelve Across. I have had it for more than ten years and have repeatedly read it. I’m new to audiobooks and have been looking up favorites so I was excited to see this older book in audio form. The reading time seemed pretty short but the description didn’t say abridged so I bought it. It is most definitely edited and very much harmed in the process! It’s a short book. Why would you edit it? Why would you leave it so one character disappears for virtually the whole book? Why would you leave out a key plot point at the climax of the book? It doesn’t flow right even if you don’t know what’s missing.
As to the narration, all the voices are very good except the male lead. Leah’s voice is perfect but Garrick sounds really bad.
This is a one time listen and that makes me very sad.
