Even though I knew what was coming, it still hurt to hear everything that Britney went through. I found myself anticipating the very public moments when she struggled and yet wincing all the same when she spoke about them. And yet—to be able to speak so candidly and with an undertone of hopefulness despite the struggles she faced makes this book special. Hopefully she continues to find her peace.

Mr. King Delivers Again

As a longtime fan of Stephen Kong’s storytelling, I am quick to jump on any of his books that I can find. However I am often not fully satisfied by at least one aspect of the story. This is one of his great works, taking me on a journey from start to finish. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good supernatural thriller.

Loved this performance

This is an intense story, for those who remember living through it and for those who are hearing about it for the first time. The group who created this audiobook are incredible—I loved the variety of perspectives that were brought together in this book. Using interviews of the victims, surviving family members, and detectives gave me a true glimpse into the story behind the news clips. I would recommend listening to this audiobook if you have an interest in true crime and/or the D.C. sniper case.

Eye-opening account

This account of the attack on Benghazi is truly staggering. The courage and heroism that these men exemplified will humble you. Definitely a must-read.

Powerful story

I’m not sure what I expected of this story, but it exceeded all that I anticipated. At times it brought me to tears, flared my anger, and hurt my heart. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is a must-read.

Truly, deliciously horrifying

While many of Mr. King’s novels explore the fantastic, the horror of this one comes from its connection to reality. I can easily say this is the most horrifying book I’ve ever read, simply because it connects to our world so completely. I will definitely have trouble sleeping after finishing this book; and the themes developed within this story will haunt me, like the pull of the creatures from this story.

Worthwhile read

I greatly enjoyed this book and Mr. King’s exceptional storytelling, but I did feel as though I’d read a similar ending in one of his previous books. However, I would still highly recommend this novel and feel it is a thought-provoking story that will stay with you long after you finish.

Less than impressed

My dislikes of this book far outweighed my likes. As always, I appreciated Mr. King’s detailed writing. However, this book could have actually been half as long as it was. It stretched on, seeming to never be drawing to a close. Along with that, the gore of this book flirted with the obscene. It was really overdone and unnecessary in most parts. Finally, while I did like the narrator, the sound effects used in the recording were just weird. Overall, I would not recommend purchasing this book.

But really... who killed JonBenet Ramsey?

While I appreciate the detail with which Wecht explored the death and subsequent investigation into the case of JonBenet Ramsey, I was not a fan of this book. His insistence on referencing himself in the third person as “Dr. Cyril Wecht” every time he offered a personal insight or recollection into the case came across-at least to me-as self-indulgent. Furthermore, I expected the authors to establish a legitimate theory of their own once they discounted all other theories at the end of the book. Unfortunately when I finished listening, I was left with the title question still unanswered: who actually killed JonBenet Ramsey?

Excellent storyline and performances

The story really captures the emotions of someone trapped in addiction and depression. Along with that, it is a twisted road of "who done it" from beginning to end. Well written and nicely performed. I would definitely recommend this book!
