Not a bad plot but they forgot to finish editing.

Enjoyed the first book so I got the second, the over all story arc is interesting if the details plod along at some points. My biggest complaint though is that they forgot to finish editing the audio. I'm writing this while listening to constant dialog mistakes and restarts with a clicker to notify the editor of where to cut. There's been a few others thought the book (restarts or people talking away from the mic out of character) but in chapter 15 it's gotten so distracting that I felt I had to stop and write this review in hopes that someone would see it and fix it.

Excellent entertainment value if a bit derivetive

First and foremost, this was an excellent enjoyable book. The preformance as usual was top notch, if you enjoyed gun meister you and also enjoy space combat you will most likely enjoy star nova. When I say it's derivetive I can't help but think of enders game repeatedly. However that's kind of hard not to do in this genre so it's forgivable. The sex is there but far from graphic so don't let that stop you if you are squeamish, it's more of a suggestion of sex. That said, it's probably not a book for kids, so all you teens will probably be buying it as soon as the word "sex" entered the review, jokes on you, it's not porn, should have kept reading. To sum up, yes it strongly reminds me of enders game but that's OK, it's a good book to be compared to. The preformance was excellent and I can't wait for book 1.

Really excellent story

This is an well written, well executed, and well performed story. If you like the hard luck hank books but wish they got out more this is the book for you. Similar sarcasm but less gangster and more intelligent. I haven't enjoyed a book quite like this in a while. I only wish it was a series so I could have more.

Excellent preference with a decent script

The narrator has done an excellent job through the whole series so far. I find a lot of female narrators struggle with male characters but not so here. The story and characters are compelling, although they do sometimes get a bit angsty or loose all self confidence at times, usually not for long however. The sex is steamy as hell but the story doesn't revolve around it and it just seems to be incidental. Over all its an excellent book and series, I'll be getting the next installment I'm sure.

Excellent political commentary

If you have any interest in how British and American politics have shaped the world, you owe it to yourself to listen to this. Same goes if you just like to hear about the people who did serious damage to the western world being sagged off.

Worst narration ever

I have no idea if the book is any good or not. The narrator sounds across between a txt to speech program and an IVR phone system. She pauses before every proper noun then says it in a totally different tone. When she's not doing that he's mispronouncing every other word and talking like a robot. It's so distracting I'm writing this review while less than half way through. I don't think I'll be listening to any more once I'm done.

Story was good, wish the narrator was.

It's unfortunate, the narrator sounds like a teenage girl with a head cold. Not to mention mispronouncing some words so as to make them not part of the English language. It's pronounced "ba-he-mith" not "ba-ha-mut" that stuff bugs me as it jarrs me out of the scene. Not to mention she over acts things that should be subtle and is flat where there should be emphasis. All in all a piss poor preformance for an ok book.

Can't get enough of this series

I've run through 3 books in about a week and a half, can't wait for more. Usually I only listen when I'm driving but this story has me so engaged that I find myself listening just about any time I'm not doing something that prevents it.

Generally quite enjoyable

I quit like the story and most of the writing. Perhaps it's not as obvious in reading it but in the audio book the repetitive uses of some phrases can get distracting. Thinks like cackling headers... Once or twice is fine, but using the same description every time someone punches the gas in road warrioresk story gets to be a bit much. Other than that sort of thing I can wait for the next series.

Mispronounced words bug me

Great episode in the series and a decent preformance, however the words that keep getting mispronounced kill my suspension of disbelief. The worst part is they are words he got correct in previous books. Still well worth it though.
