Narrator is TERRIBLE- really almost made me not listen to the book - tried is really slow and really fast to see if anything made her better and nothing did!

Historia
Jonathan Hale is terrified. The wealthy property lawyer and money launderer is back home in Surrey after a nightmare experience in a U.S. jail. The police have him under secret surveillance. But Hales's fears lie elsewhere. His plea bargain has earned him the enmity of The Reptile, a notoriously cold-hearted gangster, now confined for life in a maximum-security jail in Arizona thanks to Hale. He's taken precautions, moved house, hidden his identity and installed security for his wife and family. But still… what if The Reptile escapes?

Agatha Award-winning author Rhys Bowen’s charming combination of intrigue and romance blended with a touch of humor shines when performed by Audible Hall of Fame narrator Katherine Kellgren, whose deft range and impeccable accent work make it hard to believe this isn’t a multicast performance.

Revisado: 02-21-22
The story was fairly simple and the narrator’s performance grated on my nerves to the point where I could not wait for the audio book to be over.

Not the right Narrator
Revisado: 02-11-22
If you can force yourself past the extremely boring first several chapters, the story is okay. However, the narrator ruins whatever enjoyment there might have been listening to this book.

Historia
They'll do anything for a second shot at forever. When Cole McGregor entered my life, my whole world changed. My new neighbor was older, gorgeous, and the Irish accent had me swooning. And no matter what, he was always there for me, but only as a friend. The day I walked out of his life without a trace...I'd left not as a young girl with a crush but as a woman in love. I regretted my decision to leave Cole behind, but I never doubted the reason for my choice - the chance to find my brother even if I also found myself caught up in a shadowy world of danger.

Redundant
Revisado: 09-22-20
Story is very redundant - could have easily been told in a two hour timeframe. I found the continued rehashing of the same information from previous books in the series and from this story itself tedious and not enjoyable.

Historia
Alex Morrow is not new to the police force - or to crime - but there is nothing familiar about the call she has just received. On a still night in a quiet suburb of Glasgow, Scotland, three armed men have slipped into a house, demanding a man who is not, and has never been, inside the front door. In the confusion that ensues, one family member is shot and another kidnapped, the assailants demanding an impossible ransom. Is this the amateur crime gone horribly wrong that it seems, or something much more unexpected?

So glad to be Done with this book!
Revisado: 04-30-20
I’ve listened to one other of Denise Mina’s books and enjoyed it but this one was grueling to finish. The narrator was good but the story and characters we uninteresting and not enjoyable at all. So bad I may not give me Mina another chance.

Historia
The day Anna McDonald's quiet, respectable life explodes starts off like all the days before: Packing up the kids for school, making breakfast, listening to yet another true crime podcast. Then her husband comes downstairs with an announcement, and Anna is suddenly, shockingly alone. Reeling, desperate for distraction, Anna returns to the podcast. Other people's problems are much better than one's own - a sunken yacht, a murdered family, a hint of international conspiracy. But this case actually is Anna's problem. She knows one of the victims from an earlier life.

Historia
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. So when one of the Grand Canyon's mules is found stabbed to death at the bottom of the canyon - and its rider missing - Pine is called in to investigate.

Male Narrator is terrible!
Revisado: 01-04-20
Luckily the male narrator has fairly limited time and female narrator is good so you can finish the book but it’s not pleasant. The end of the story is rather simplistic and not satisfying. Would not recommend.
