Excellent concept, but slow read
Revisado: 02-10-24
For me, this was a slow read. I loved the characters and the premise of the story but I didn't really get hooked until the last 1/4 of the book.

Historia
Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of 18th-century Cairo, she’s a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trades she uses to get by - palm readings, zars, and a mysterious gift for healing - are all tricks, both the means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles and a reliable way to survive. But when Nahri accidentally summons Dara, an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior, to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to reconsider her beliefs.

Perfect conclusion!
Revisado: 01-24-23
I absolutely loved the final book in the Rooks and Ruin series. It kept my attention all the way through and held unexpected twists and surprises from chapter to chapter. From an audiobook standpoint, the flashbacks were very difficult to listen to. It was hard to know when you were in one or not and it resulted in a lot of rewinding which broke the flow of listening.

This book sucked me in immediately and kept my attention as the story of the Obsidian Tower unfurled. It contains LGBTQ+ inclusivity which is so refreshing in a fantasy series! Highly recommend this author and book series.
