Historia
Marvellously atmospheric tale of strangers summoned to a grand but neglected villa on the Italian coast. Each of them has been named in a will, but nobody knows their benefactress.... Four very different people are named in a will. Delia, an opera singer robbed of her voice by illness; George, an idealistic scientist who cannot face what his skills have created; Marjorie, desperately poor and unable to dislodge her writer’s block; and Lucius, ostensibly in control but whose personal life is in chaos.

Fascinating Story
Revisado: 05-06-21
At first you wonder how such a disparate group could belong together. Then you get to know and like each person. And finally you want to see them happy. The book fills all requirements. Thoroughly enjoyable story and narration. Wish I could visit Villa Dante.

Historia
When wilderness guide Harper Ward is summoned to the small town sheriff's office in Helena Springs, Montana, to provide assistance on a case, she is shocked to find that their only suspect in the double murder investigation is a man described as a savage. But the longer she watches the man known only as Lucas, on the station surveillance camera, the more intrigued she becomes. He certainly looks primitive with his unkempt appearance and animal skin attire, but she also sees intelligence in his eyes, sensitivity in his expression. Who is he?

Fascinating story. Likeable characters, hateful villains. The narration was excellent. The storyline was split in different parts finally coming together at the exciting, satisfying end.

Though this book can stand alone, it would be better to read/listen to book one, "The Bookseller's Tale" first. The narration is excellent. The story well done and interesting. It helps one to understand medieval life. The characters are strong and likeable. I am looking forward to follow them into book three!

Excellent narration of an excellent story. I have read and listened to the two previous Lavender books. I like and admire both Lavender and Woods. The main mystery was good and not easy to solve. But there were so many other questions and secrets, there was always something of interest to look forward to. I am now waiting for the next Lavender book!

David Timson is a wonderful narrator. I felt as if I were there in the room listening to Holmes and Watson.
We all know the Holmes stories, from movies, and recordings as edited and rewritten to fit a time limit. So listening to these unabridged versions as Arthur Conan Doyle wrote them is a treat.
