Historia
Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

just what I needed at the time that I needed it
Revisado: 05-10-22
while struggling to overcome the aftermath of emotional trauma myself, I stumbled upon this book and it has been a monumental help for me. I like how it isn't a book that just retells warm bubbly stories of other people to which the narrator then says this can be you too, I love that the author actually gives a specific blueprint of exercises and self-help techniques that anybody can actually employ to their specific situation. you rarely see books like these give an actual format towards specific recovery, I truly appreciated listening to this and highly recommend

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

one word: profound
Revisado: 09-16-21
I dare say that reading this was a life altering experience in my thought process going forward. Everything, from the horrific account of Frankl's experiences during the Holocaust, to his journey back to humanity and purpose, and his creation and mastery of the concept of logo therapy has been nothing short of compelling, gripping and fascinating on several levels. An absolute treasure

Historia
In this "penetrating new analysis" ( New York Times Book Review), Ira Katznelson fundamentally recasts our understanding of 20th century American history and demonstrates that all the key programs passed during the New Deal and Fair Deal era of the 1930s and 1940s were created in a deeply discriminatory manner. Through mechanisms designed by southern democrats that specifically excluded maids and farm workers, the gap between blacks and whites actually widened despite postwar prosperity.

A must read for all Americans
Revisado: 08-07-20
This book poignantly explains and exposes why there are such stark racial gaps in America and how it was accomplished through intentional design. The narrator makes a very tough subject to become aware of easy to listen to, which made the subject matter that much more effective

awesome messages, tangible ideas, cheesy story
Revisado: 07-09-20
I absolutely love the messages conveyed and how Sharma gives a tangible structure to build on to achieve success. The fictional story that the messages are woven in is Hallmark channel quality, but definitely tolerable. It is a thinking changer.

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

wonderfully written, heart string pulling story, that is neither too biased, nor is it unapologetic, as it applies to the main protagonist. An honest take on an issue that can be more complex than is normally conveyed. Bravo

Historia
In this groundbreaking history of the modern American metropolis, Richard Rothstein explodes the myth that America's cities came to be racially divided through de facto segregation - that is, through individual prejudices, income differences, or the actions of private institutions like banks and real estate agencies. Rather, he incontrovertibly makes clear that it was de jure segregation - the laws and policy decisions passed by local, state, and federal governments - that actually promoted the discriminatory patterns that continue to this day.

An absolute must read for all Americans. It gives a historical, fact based timeline, from post slavery, to the Obama era, of how the American government created a socially engineered caste system that affects us all to this day. Painful to read, but essential to learn.
