Historia
The American West in the early 1960s appears to be a pastoral paradise: golden wheat fields, mist-filled canyons, frolicking animals. Aspiring novelist Aaron Holland Broussard has observed it from the open door of a boxcar, riding the rails for both inspiration and odd jobs. Jumping off in Denver, he finds work on a farm and meets Joanne McDuffy, an articulate and fierce college student and gifted painter. Their soul connection is immediate, but their romance is complicated by Joanne’s involvement with a shady professor who is mixed up with a drug-addled cult.

Excellent prose. Rushed, unsatisfying ending
Revisado: 05-24-24
Perhaps I need to read the last few chapters again, but on my first listen/read (I switch between formats), the last 30 pages of this novel completely fell apart. It felt rushed, disjointed, random, and not fleshed out. Maybe that was the author’s intention, but I found it unsatisfying. The rest of the book was very good, however. Excellent prose and tone.

Pure entertainment

I loved this book. It was very well written and performed by the authors. The music and sound effects helped suck me in. The style is cheeky and hilariously outlandish. I definitely recommend listening to it. I had an excellent time.
