This learning method is very effective. I am really progressing well in my vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. Despite how expensive these units are, I’m going to keep going.

Structured and Effective

This is a solid course. It is structured and it pushes you. The vocabulary building in context is very effective. I like that it is confidence building. I started Pimsleur after I completed Paul Noble‘s first course, which I absolutely loved, but his second course won’t be available for two more months. So I am going with Pimsleur until then. My main complaint with Pimsleur is that you only get 2 1/12 hours for a full credit, so it is VERY expensive - 6 X times other audible books. Pimsleur needs to sort this out.

OUTSTANDING. IT REALLY WORKS!

Paul Noble‘s audible course is unique and highly effective. He is s genius. There is no forced memorisation with this course, no technical descriptions of grammar. His technique teaches you to UNDERSTAND the language, not memorise it. By the end, I was able to respond at a native speaker‘s pace, and accurately. I couldn’t stop smiling st how effective this is. I had never studied German before, and now I can confidently carry a basic conversation, get what I want, and feel confident about it. I can’t rate this high enough to do it credit. Danke Paul Noble!

From Zero to One Hundred!

I liked the first book, and felt I was really on track to progressing into the second book, the collection of Short Stories. Talk about a disconnect. It’s like teaching a child how to ride a tricycle, then putting them in the cockpit of a NASA space shuttle for a solo flight. Why not pace the reader by transitioning into something understandable? Frustrating, and confidence crushing. I will probably be ready for these short stories after about another year of studies. Oh well.

Outstanding

What a remarkably well written and well read book. Clear prose, well constructed, and with a pace that makes it hard to remember its non-fiction. Cotter Smith is a subtly wonderful narrator who breathes life into every word. An outstanding work that gives the reader very good insight into the man behind the legend. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Narration and Prose

I loved this book. The narrator is marvellous, the writing is superb, and the story is compelling. The detail in this work about both Custer and the many people involved is rare, interesting and important. I learned a lot and highly recommend it.

Horrible Narration Ruins It

This is an important work, but unfortunately the narration is ridiculously bad. The narrator overacts so severely it’s hard to not turn it off. On top of that he mispronounces words, tribal names, character names, and puts emphasis on the wrong syllables of even the most common words. I think he was drunk or high for this recording, particularly the last two chapters where he is noticeably slurring. Given how short this work is, the combination of the narration and the full price I paid for it would make me not recommend it if it weren’t for the importance of the stories. Take your chances.

Outstanding!

Very surprised by this book. The writing, the subject and the narration hooked me. Fast-paced, interesting, and revealing. I learned a lot. This book changed my perspective on Nathan Bedford Forest for the better. What a genius! Highly recommended!

Liked it, not as Clever as I Thought it would be

After reading many reviews, I was ready to have my mind blown and my socks blown off. Didn’t quite go that far for me. The dangers of reading too many rave reviews! However, it is still a great book. Whelan’s female voices are great, her male voices are creepy. Overall, a good book. Recommended.

Overall a Great Book

I liked this book, especially the narration. It was a good audio read. My only knock against it was the many chapters that really had nothing to do with Quantrill, just general history. Informative, but not completely relevant. Overall, though, I was left with the feeling I knew more about the odd and terrifying man that was William Quantrill. I would recommend this book.
