Historia
Every generation, a journalist has looked deep into the heart of the nuclear military establishment: the technologies, the safeguards, the plans, and the risks. These investigations are vital to how we understand the world we really live in—where one nuclear missile will beget one in return, and where the choreography of the world’s end requires massive decisions made on seconds’ notice with information that is only as good as the intelligence we have. Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Jacobsen’s Nuclear War: A Scenario explores this ticking-clock scenario.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Historia
New York Times journalist Michael Schmidt investigates that rogue of a president, Trump, as he spats with his government. Many in the FBI and House would like to see Trump gone and his thirst for power to fire people who are not loyal to him cut off first. Schmidt, who won a Pulitzer Prize, takes the biographical perspective for two key players who play significant roles in Trump's affairs: FBI Director James Comey and Senior Legal Counsel Don McGahn.

Too bad zero stars can't be given
Revisado: 01-16-23
I really wanted to wade through this prior to purchasing Schmidt's book, hoping it would be an honest assessment of Schmidt's work...Only took about 3 minutes (thank God its only 53 minutes long in totality) to realize it was a waste of my audible coupon credit because at about $3, it turned out not to be worth 3 cents! DO NOT WASTE AN AUDIBLE CREDIT ON THIS!
Despite not giving anything useful to determine if I want to read Schmidt's book, I now will purchase that book.
Schmidt should be more outraged than I am disappointed with this weak book!
Don't waste your time!

Historia
The United States is in the midst of a religious revolution. Or, perhaps it is better to say a non-religious revolution. Around a quarter of US adults now say they have no religion. The great majority of these religious "nones" also say that they used to belong to a religion but no longer do. These are the nonverts: think "converts," but from having religion to having none. There are currently about fifty-nine million of them in the United States.

Not the message I wanted to hear, but undeniable! Biggest take away from a Catholic concerned with young people leaving the faith is we have to “Walk the walk” and not just “Talk the talk” , or it us as family patriarchs or matriarchs, and not society, who have convinced our kids to leave the faith!

Historia
Mike Pence spent more hours in the Oval Office than any of his predecessors. On the surface, the affable evangelical Christian from a gas-station-owning family in Indiana wouldn’t seem to have much in common with a brash real estate mogul from New York. But the unlikely duo formed a tight bond. So Help Me God is the chronicle of the events and people who forged Mike Pence’s character. This is the inside story of the Trump administration by its second highest official—what he said to the president and how he was tested.

Disappointing, painful, read (listen)
Revisado: 11-29-22
I wanted to give Pence the benefit of the doubt, being a Christian conservative myself. It was too self-sanctimonious. If he had admitted his unwavering support for Trump was wrong, I might have been more compassionate.
Its hard to reconcile his self-righteousness, even though he did the right thing on 6 January, his autobiography did little to undo his comments at that infamous cabinet meeting in 2017 when he fawned over Trump, or his reluctance to not testify against Trump before the House Committee on January 6....Pence sold his soul to the devil, and all his claims of his religiosity land on (at least my) deaf ears.
But as a critique of the Audiobook...it might have been easier to take had it been read by someone other than Pence who's carefully crafted words are somehow even more unbelievable when coming from his voice.

Historia
When Michael Fanone self-deployed to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, he had no idea his life was about to change. When he got to the front of the line, he urged his fellow officers to hold it against the growing crowd of insurrectionists—until he found himself pulled into the mob, tased until he had a heart attack, and viciously beaten with a Blue Lives Matter flag as shouts to kill him rang out. Now, Fanone is ready to tell the full story of that infamous day, along with exploring our country’s most critical issues as someone who has had firsthand experience with many of them.

Disappointing
Revisado: 10-16-22
I think it was a mistake having Fanone read his own book.
He might have pulled it off had I not first been introduced to him thru CNN where he was a hired consultant.
Fanone's folksy "red neck cop" with exaggerated charming southern accent peppered with the F bombs was a bit much and seemingly over dramatic after having seen him appear on CNN...seemed like an act, and was difficult to get over.
Took a great effort to overlook the theatrics...maybe another reader, or reading the paper copy would change my mind about the overall rating of 1 star, and bring it into alignment with the 4 star rating on story.

Historia
William Barr’s first tenure as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush was largely the result of chance, while his second tenure under President Donald Trump a deliberate and difficult choice. In this candid memoir, Barr takes listeners behind the scenes during seminal moments of the 1990s, from the LA riots to Pan Am 103 and Iran Contra. Thirty years later, Barr faced an unrelenting barrage of issues, such as Russiagate, the COVID outbreak, civil unrest, the impeachments, and the 2020 election fallout.

Disappointing, painful, read (listen)
Revisado: 03-21-22
I thought the memoir would be an honest evaluation by the AG of the Trump Administration (either the title was misleading, or my expectations were off the mark).
Instead, what I found was the ramblings and musings and excuses and justifications and platitudes of someone possibly laying the groundwork for a future Presidential run by throwing a bone to traditional conservative Republicans, neo-conTrump Republicans, and truly independent or non-party driven voters.
Barr carefully presented his credentials as a mainstream pre-Trumpanian Republican. His apparent disdain for the media, Obama, and progressives seemed to be raw meat thrown to a splintered Republican Party; something they would all like.
Then for good measure he seemed to throw in a little dirt on Trump, that he seemed to carefully temper to ensure placated new and old school Republicans and the non-partisan independent voters who handed Trump his defeat in 2020.
All in all, it seemed the author endeavored too hard to be the St. Paul of politics, by being "all things for all men".
It was not what I expected, and I was left disappointed with no real insight into an honest review of POTUS #45's administration and policy by an insider.
A more appropriate title might have been, "Same Damn Political Talking Points from a Man with Political Aspirations After Another".
