Historia
Welcome to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where shape-shifters, vampires, witches, and dragons live alongside humans. The town formed around the mysterious energy rift in the bayou, which helps keep the town’s magic in balance. But lately the rift has been widening and destabilizing - threatening to send the town’s magical population into chaos. Energy witch Danica Teel has been sent by the League to figure out what’s going on, with the help of bear-shifter Mayor Zed.

A bit of, "But Why?"
Revisado: 11-11-22
There was a lot of this book that was super easy to lose myself in, and then there was a lot that was like, "Even if I'm reading a 7 book series, BUT WHY?"

Historia
A year has passed since the Dark Wizard Myrin attempted to take control of the Kingdom of Verania. Though the scars of the final battle remain, Veranians have come together in unity in order to rebuild. Good King Anthony sits on the throne once more, with Morgan of Shadows at his side. However, a king is not immortal. One day, Anthony will step down, paving the way for his son, Grand Prince Justin, to assume the throne. And Justin wants anything but. Unfortunately for him, he finds himself with bigger things to worry about than just becoming the ruler of a country.

Shockingly Enjoyable!
Revisado: 04-29-22
I was worried about the POV... I should not have worried about the POV. Klune is STILL a master storyteller and Lesley a brilliant narrator. I cannot praise this book (and series) enough!

Another Great Entry to the LitRPG Genre
Revisado: 04-20-21
The production on this novel is great! The narrator is well-spoken and enunciated and makes the characters come to life in a way that so few narrators can.
The story itself is filled with action and some decent one-liners. I'm interested to see where the author takes the world building/town management aspect of things. Interested enough that I'm heading off to get the next book right now!

Historia
Patricia Campbell's life has never felt smaller. Her ambitious husband is too busy to give her a goodbye kiss in the morning, her kids have their own lives, her senile mother-in-law needs constant care, and she's always a step behind on thank-you notes and her endless list of chores. The one thing she has to look forward to is her book club, a close-knit group of Charleston women united by their love of true crime and paperback fiction. At these meetings they're as likely to talk about the Manson family as they are marriage, motherhood, and neighborhood gossip.

A Time Capsule of Misogyny
Revisado: 03-17-21
There's no denying that the late 80s and early 90s in the south was an AWFUL lot of "You do what I tell you to and never question me as your husband."
That is both the glory AND downfall of this book. 30 years after that time period, KNOWING this mentality still exists and railing against it every single day, it's a bit of a hard pill to swallow.
Just make it to the end. It's worth it.

Fresh. Imaginative. Invigorating.
Revisado: 06-10-17
There were moments in this book that I wanted to scream. Not because it was bad, but because it was so carefully crafted that every character shift left me panting for more. The POV changes were perfectly timed, the cadence flawless, and the story itself unsurpassed in its originality. I purchased the second book with ten hours remaining because I knew I'd want to dive right into it when The Warded Man wrapped up. I wasn't wrong. I'm off to do just that.

It's not easy pretending to be dead - especially when it feels as if you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Between an unfulfilled prophecy, the demon-occupied Lowlands, the continuing power of murderous Aifric Moncrieffe - not to mention her constant yearnings for Byron - Integrity Adair has a lot to worry about. Still, how hard can it really be to save Scotland, maintain her morals, get the guy, and keep her sense of humor?

Every book in this series has consistently been better than the last and this was no exception!

Historia
Integrity Taylor has regained possession of her ancestral lands - and inherited a whole host of new problems. The specter of what really happened to her parents is casting a shadow over everything, while Fomori demons are being sighted up and down the Highlands. It doesn't help that Aifric Moncrieffe still seems determined to see her dead, and emerald-eyed Byron remains stubbornly blind to his father's true nature. Integrity is determined to stay in control of her own destiny, however, even if it means confronting the darkness across the Veil yet again.
