terrible narrator.
Revisado: 04-12-25
series is ok, bit bland but not terrible.
the issue comes from the narrator. she is.. really very terribly not good.
doesnt read in a flat monotone like many, but this tone of half smirked condescention for everything. this is made worse by how thr AIs are all spoken in this slow stilted "monolog" that drags it put even more.
i was able to push through the last 2 books, but i think here im gonna cut when finished. bout half way through and just at the point that if she continues i cant take it enough to keep up.

Excellent Story!!
Revisado: 11-14-24
my only issue, is every few minutes there is a 5 second pause in the middle of things. just this brief sudden pause that makes the story stumble in the most jarring way.

great story, mucky narration.
Revisado: 08-03-24
book has an excellent story following orks, and the mechanicum defending against them. the charqcters are interesting to follow and in general a great go!
sadly, the narrator just does not fit. voices all the orks as having very high pitched and lagging voices. word are drawn out as if to cover that its suppose to be loud. they end up sounding more like what a grot would sound like. kind of jarring, but not a deal breaker, jist maked me grind my teeth. dude does a fine job voicing the Mechanicum side quite well.
in general its a fine book and can suggest picking it up, that said narration can kill it for some people. check the sample to make sure for yourself.

banal "horror" story thats a long slow and boring drag from start to end with forgetable, bland, or generally unlikable characters. no real explaination of exactly what "mAKe EreBuDY CrazY!!!!!" though i gave up with an hour and a half left. should have cut it at 10 minutes in.

proof of aliens.
Revisado: 02-20-24
ive made it through roughly a half hour of this book. its a bit of a rwmbling mess bringing things up thst I am assuming it made up with no frame or reference to it. it just sort of rambles on inanely not really going anywhere or showing any point or purpose.
the big issue comes with thr narration. i SWEAR this has to be some poorly made AI readers. the voice has no inflection, just badly placed emphasis in weird spots. every word is spoken as if it was alone, making. it. sound. disjointed. and alien. it. gets. very distracting. it really does seem like an aliens first attempts at speaking english. add in the strange monotone speech, and a vlice thst might fit the buzzing of an insect, i cant make it more then a half hour before cutting this loose.

gross bugs. soooooo spooky.
Revisado: 01-30-24
never read any of cutters stuff before, but a quick look pver other thing by him show this, gross body horror bugs.
and yeah. thats all we got here. mediocre lovecraftian body horror caused by bugs. extensive time spent detailing how gross things are while not much happens. its also less horror and more just gross things, cause gross is scary right? im sure some middling twattle will come along and make an attempt, but for the most part its just very.. meh.
good narrator at least.

bland and banal. slow and boring
Revisado: 07-27-23
so ive gpttem through a couple hours of the story and cant continue. the first part of the book isny experiencing the guys life so you develop an attachment to him as you see what shaped him, but more of a brief and low quality bullet point explaination of the charavter thar leaves no impression on the guy beyond "The Most Bland Delta force operator ever.
again, we get nothing actually to him or see how it really shapes him, just a series of events and bland reactions to them.
then we fet into the actual story which continues to fumble about rather blandly, and then decides to "Save humanity".
im sorry, this is just so damn boring i cant keep on it. i dont care if it "WILL GET INTERESTING LATER, right now its just boring trash with no purpose or point. lets see if the other book i got with it in the curremt sale, but its to trash to bother finishing

Historia
Eleven years at the FBI taught me two things—how to stay alive when a gun is pointed at my head, and that I never want to work for anyone else ever again. When I moved to Atlanta and started my own PI firm, I swore I’d never make my living chasing down missing or philandering spouses. But the rent is due, so when a woman knocked on my door and offered me a boatload of money to track down her missing husband who helped himself to a family heirloom on his way out, I had a hard time saying no. Seemed like easy money.

very bland and mediocre story with flat characters
Revisado: 03-13-23
made it most of the way through before giving up. this was just a dead fish of a story with decent narration. the main character lacks any sort of charm in any sense, simply flailing about in the dark without much result in getting things done, gets knocked out and captured constantly, and as the main character doesnt actually really seem to add anything to the story.
the plot thread itself seems a cool idea, but never actually goes any where and is only revealed in the last 2 hours, about where i dropped out. the entire thing just meanders along aimlessly making the characters look ineffective and stupid with no real moments of showing just why we should like them, the story, or anything.

fairly pathetic entery.
Revisado: 02-08-23
so this one veers off from the normal TFS books, which were fairly good and well done. this was a floundering mess that muddled along for 8 and a half hours of forgetable mediocrity.
nothing really feels accomplished at any point in the book, and im pretty sure for close to the last couple hours is just two characters screeching at each other to surrender. nome of the characters are likable, they are barely even tolerable. the story is left in no real spot, and its just supremely bland and banal. very sad addition to the series that was running fairly strong and had plenty of other places it could have gone.

Name's Kane, Kate Kane. I'm a paranormal private investigator, which is like a normal private investigator except - and stop me if you're having trouble following this - more paranormal. This business comes with a few basic rules: don't start drinking before noon, don't get your partner killed, don't sleep with the woman who killed him. Last year I broke all of them.

Boring as hell.
Revisado: 11-24-22
Some how this book makes vampires, werewolves, fairfolk, eldritch monsters, witches, demons, and lesbians boring and banal as a lecture on taxes.
The book feels like it was written by a 15 year old with how LITERALLY everything bends back into sex. Thats 90 percent of the content, with some poorly done self depreciating humor, snarky sass, and catty insults.
There is nothing in the book that is really worth while as even the "sexy" scenes are bland as over cooked porridge. The characters all lack any substance, the plot is nonexistant, and its all about a "hardboiled pi lesbian" acting like she is investigating some murder while actually spending more time getting distracted about who she is going to "shag" next. She shows no investigative skills with everything and one just falling into her lap, and no real traits that make her likeable. Or unlikable. There is nothing to place feelings on one way or another. Its the same with All the characters.
This is compounded by the fact that the narrator has this snotty superior british accent that wears on the nerves, and her "voices" for other characters are just a slightly different tone and pitch, while forgetting to donthem for the character half the time, and doing the wrong voice a small portion as well.
There is nothing in this book except pissed away potential.
