Historia
Mariana Andros is a brilliant but troubled group therapist who becomes fixated on The Maidens when one member, a friend of Mariana’s niece Zoe, is found murdered in Cambridge. Mariana, who was once herself a student at the university, quickly suspects that behind the idyllic beauty of the spires and turrets, and beneath the ancient traditions, lies something sinister. And she becomes convinced that, despite his alibi, Edward Fosca is guilty of the murder. But why would the professor target one of his students?

A Real Eye Opener
Revisado: 12-17-21
This book started out as well told but common story of a woman's heartache that many of us have shared. However, the ending was quite a surprise for me. it raises the question once again, do we really know the people we choose to love?

Historia
Cantankerous and vinegar-tongued Grandmama, from Anne Perry's Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series, is the leading character in this Christmas novel, which unfolds in the chilly, windswept Romney Marshes off the English Channel. Grandmama arrives on a holiday visit to the home of Charlotte's parents, where a fellow guest--an outcast from her own family--is subsequently murdered. Like the heroes before her in Anne Perry's Christmas novels, Grandmama is called upon to play the role of amateur detective.

This book was surprisingly entertaining. Habitually I choose books of 20 hours or more. I don't know what what moved me to choose this book. But I'm so glad I did glad I did. I will look for more from miss Perry.

Satisfying ending.
Revisado: 10-19-21
I enjoyed the story and the narrator. I have known both kinds of people in this story. People who are trained by the military and remain Warriors throughout their lives. The others are the obscenely wealthy that can get away with anything. It will always be a battle between good and evil. And this story good one.

I had to force myself to listen to the entire book because of the new accent. I am not sure if I'm going to listen to the next book if her accent remains the same. Really disappointed.

Historia
Michael and Megan Fitzgerald are siblings who share a terrifying past. Both adopted, and now grown — Michael is a long-haul truck driver, Megan a college student majoring in psychology — they trust each other before anyone else. They've had to. Their parents are public intellectuals, an Ivy League clinical psychologist and a renowned psychiatrist, and they brought up their adopted children in a rarefied, experimental environment. It sheltered them from the world's harsh realities, but it also forced secrets upon them, secrets they keep at all costs.

Historia
Two years ago, Dr. Gina Brady broke Thomas Prescott’s heart, but now her panic-stricken satellite phone call starts it beating again with a fury. Thugs kidnapped the good doctor from the remote jungle village where she was working, and now the retired homicide detective’s expert skills are desperately needed to save her. Led by a colorful, but perhaps untrustworthy local guide, Prescott journeys deep into the Bolivian Amazon, plunging into a world where the only thing more dangerous than the gun-toting drug traffickers and the ruthless tribesmen, is the jungle itself.

Much more than I expected. I've actually listened to it 3 times now. Learned something different each time. The characters are well defined and interesting. There weren't any superheroes just people and I like that very much very much. The Narrator kept the story going at a good pace. I'll look for more from this author.

As if I walked the streets of Calcutta
Revisado: 01-04-21
Robin Cook's books are always entertaining. This one is especially educational. There is no chance that I will ever travel to India, but I felt the roughness of the roads, I smelled the cities and towns in which a billion people live. I learned about medical tourism and much more. This book is recommended for those who want to travel in their reading chairs.
