Historia
This transcendent story follows four college friends who move to New York City, buoyed by ambition: Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, an artist; Malcolm, an architect; and, at the center, Jude, a withdrawn, brilliant attorney haunted by an unspeakable past. Through decades of shared and separate lives, Jude’s suffering - and its impact on those who love him - raises questions about the limits of human endurance, the possibility for redemption, and the meaning of friendship.

WOW!
Revisado: 04-25-16
Where does A Little Life rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book made me cry after I got into it. It was so emotionally charged in the 2nd half, I would schedule my listening because I knew I would be so moved. This is the best book of the year for me.
What did you like best about this story?
I don't know how a female author wrote such a gut wrenching novel about the men in this book. Amazing!
Which character – as performed by Oliver Wyman – was your favorite?
Jude, hands down.
Who was the most memorable character of A Little Life and why?
Jude, once again.
Any additional comments?
This book is up for several awards. It deserves them. The best book I have listened to this year. I am so glad I listened and not read this book. I wasn't interrupted nor distracted and could tune out the noise.

Historia
The year is 1924 and the race to summit the world's highest mountain has been brought to a terrified pause by the shocking disappearance of George Mallory and Sandy Irvine, high on the shoulder of Mt. Everest. By the following year, three climbers - a British poet and veteran of the Great War, a young French Chamonix guide, and an idealistic young American - find a way to take their shot at the top.

Dan Simmons at his best!
Revisado: 12-22-13
What did you love best about The Abominable?
The story, the narration, overall effect
What other book might you compare The Abominable to and why?
None. I never expected to love a book about mountaineering!
Which scene was your favorite?
They all worked to form a moving, cohesive, tightly told narrative.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wanted it to last because it is finite.
Any additional comments?
I have loved most of Dan Simmons' work. His Hyperion trilogy is among the best literature. It is unforgettable. With this latest book, Simmons has authored another unforgettable book. I have read and listened to so many books over the years. This one moved me so much I had to write a review!
