Honestly it is hard to review a book that is only 60 minutes long and isn’t really meant for serious fans of Marlon Brando but I shall give it my best. I was curious about how brando, as a person, could come up with the now infamous scene from Last Tango In Paris and so, when I was offered a choice of audiobooks to choose from, I picked this. Brando as an actor is a very interesting person. Brando as a person on the other hand is just horrifying. The audiobook, thankfully, didn’t linger too much on topics and was quick enough to get through. (Naturally).

Harriet Reed adopts a rather monotone way of narrating the story making it sound very news reader like. If you watched DD India as a child you will understand exactly what I mean. In a way this proves to be a better way to digest Brando’s various relationships and children. In a way I felt a little relieved that they didn’t touch on the Last tango In Paris. Maybe it was written earlier?

WHAT I LIKED

I really enjoyed the quickness of the narration. If I’m meeting someone who is interested in a topic that I’m unaware of and I want to make conversation with them I’ll just have to listen to this at 1.5x the speed (very doable) and voila, I have enough knowledge for surface conversation with said person. Perfect if you have someone you need to impress, a boss, a date, an annoying know it all friend. This is perfect for that.

WHAT I DISLIKED

I normally listen to an audiobook while working out or driving. Unfortunately while the rather bland narration helped get through some of the more shocking parts it also made it difficult to do something else while listening to this. I had to try really hard to keep my focus on the audiobook and found myself having to rewind a few times.

Where does Remorseless rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's good. I don't listen to thriller audiobooks, preferring to read them instead. But I really did enjoy this one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Judy Finch

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I liked that the female voices weren't too whiny. The sing song narration made it difficult for me to get into the book completely.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really. I was just entertained.

Any additional comments?

While i appreciate the author narrating this, the sing song tone of voice did not suit the thriller. It would suit a non fiction better. But the book is rather well thought out and entertaining so don't let it deter you from picking this up.

I was kindly given the audiobook to review.
While the story seemed to be well researched it wasn't exactly entertaining. It seemed more like narration in a movie "he did this after feeling this" than a book about a protagonist and their adventures. That being said it was interesting, especially the second half of it.
Where it falls really behind is in narration. The narration was unfeelingly done and if you, like me, watch samurai animes and want to read this because of that, pick the book instead of the audiobook. It isn't exactly well modulated.
If that's not an issue and you're looking for a quick listen then do pick this up!

What did you like best about The Bali Mystery? What did you like least?

I liked how fn and light it was. It was perfect after the heavy books i'd been reading.

Would you ever listen to anything by Linda Weaver Clarke again?

No.

Did Diane Lehman do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Almost. She make the Pakistanis sound stupid, like they had some sort of disorder. And she has to work on her male voices.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Any additional comments?

The author needs to do some research on her books before she writes it. Especially if she is writing about other cultures and religions.

An Interesting Premise

What disappointed you about The Keepers?

I was intrigued by the premise, which is why I listened to and agreed to review this book. But it is quite misleading. What I expected was an epic fantasy novel of one lost girl who has a higher purpose and saves the day. What the book have me was a 70s college girl romance novel with wormholes and aliens thrown in to change the genre a little bit.
It left me rather disappointed because if I had known that this was all it was I wouldn't have listened to this book. What I shall do now is review it from a YA point of view.

What was most disappointing about Donna Augustine’s story?

The character Jo doesn't leave you with much to root for. She isn't special or nice or even intelligent. Cormac is basically Christian Grey from fifty shades of grey minus the sex. The rest of the characters seemed much more deep than the main ones.
If the author had made the Jo seem more like a 20 year old and less like a 10 year old it would have worked. That being said. The book has potential and so does the writing. Just maybe change the editor? Or stick to writing romance because those parts seemed to work better than the other parts.

What aspect of Laurel Schroeder’s performance would you have changed?

I don't think the narrator can do men's voices well. I kept picturing the father character from cloudy with a chance of meatballs each time.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Yes, for the people who like the YA genre this might b redeeming. Also the romance part of it seems to work better than the fantasy part so maybe if the author changed up the angle a bit to a fantasy romance as opposed to a YA fantasy it would be perfect.
