Four high-octane crime thrillers, each critically acclaimed as separate publications, now collected in a set. Hundreds of five-star reviews of the individual volumes testify to their reputation as action-packed thrillers steeped in authenticity and plausibility, reflecting the real world of police encounters with the dark world of crime.

Very, very good.
Revisado: 06-01-22
I read / listened to some short stories by the author some time ago and I've had this on my Audible shelf for years. I finally got to it this past week. It is so brilliant. I'm hugely impressed. The characters and the real-world violent interactions between police and criminals is breathtaking. There are four stories here which can be read as single dramas, but they also make a four-part series with the central characters there all the way through. Like a Netflix series. Very, very good. Narration is clear and the accents well created.

Historia
These eight short stories are works of fiction but reflect the author's real personal experiences while undergoing compulsory military training during his youth in apartheid South Africa. The stories are all based on real events but the characters are the products of creative imagination, however rooted in reality they might be. Listeners will enjoy a range of humour and unusual incidents - frequently hilarious - along with perceptive insights into the trials and tribulations faced by a young man seeking an identity in a confusing world of military discipline and rigid conformity.

Thoroughly enjoyable

This is a slim volume - as indeed it is advertised - but it packs such a friendly punch. Highly literate and enjoyable, the stories are painfully real and one can't help empathising with the young man. Witty and charming, the prose washes gently over one and takes one into the real world of an awful series of bootcamp experiences. When he finally finds true love it is so touching, the way he describes the young woman he talks to. A really lovely collection.
