Historia
The story of Agrippina, at the center of imperial power for three generations, is the story of the Julio-Claudia dynasty - and of Rome itself, at its bloody, extravagant, chaotic, ruthless, and political zenith. In her own time, she was recognized as a woman of unparalleled power.

It Was The Worst Use Of An Audible Credit.
Revisado: 11-04-21
I hoped for a more factual and scholarly narrative of this amazing historical figure, and I believe the author did do research, but it was so distastefully presented with excess profanity, outdated jargon and old pop culture references immaterial to Agrippa’s life it was just a waste of a credit. Many points the author makes- she hits you over the head with over and over and as a woman listening to a story about a great achieving woman in history- we just don’t have to be reminded every 3 minutes of this history that Agrippa was a woman. Too much redundancy, too little fact, and told in such a bitchy gossipy tone that it honestly is one of the worst books I’ve tried on here in years. Don’t do it. I’m not sure why the author bothered to write this book.

Historia
In this exquisite story of family, food, grief, and endurance, Michelle Zauner proves herself far more than a dazzling singer, songwriter, and guitarist. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up one of the few Asian-American kids at her school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother's particular high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food.

Loved Every Minute and Well Written
Revisado: 10-06-21
I had an opposite experience with my mother and I am not from an special group with traditions and rich culture but this was exceptionally well written and as a mother to a son I love every bit as Michell’s mother loved her, and him being at that point of him having his first year away from home after a very similar and awful break of the ties between us, this book gives me hope. We are not talking but I will purchase a copy and send it annotated along in one of my packages to him, hoping he doesn’t throw it out. I hoped I would cry listening to this book. It is such deep sorrow losing my son, but I didn’t. It would have been a relief to have a good cry. Wonderful book. It makes a mother hopeful.

I felt the storyline moved very slowly
Revisado: 05-26-21
It was predictable and tedious to get through. There never was a payoff I could barely stand it.

I just didn’t feel it.
Revisado: 04-11-21
Most of the jokes and information is old and tired. I didn’t learn any useful information, change my perspective about dating, and I didn’t find anything funny. I am sorry I used a credit for this. You might enjoy this if you are Jewish, a man, and over fifty.

I Chose It Because Of All The Good Reviews
Revisado: 03-02-21
I’m so selective of my monthly audible credit, that I have quite a few criteria set up that a book must meet. It has to be over 12 hours and if it is more, the better. I read every review people write before I choose a book. This one was so highly recommended. I guess it’s just not my style. Maybe the first couple hours are ok. But it is just long for no reason. The writer uses the same descriptors and metaphors over and over. There really is no character arc. No reveal. No climax. Just a long fictional saga with no logical end. But a lot of other people like it?

Best Book I’ve Read In Years

Spent 3 days enthralled in this story. Definitely on my top 10 books ever. Demands all of your attention or you can get lost. I love the setting and the interwoven lives of the characters.
