Historia
Nigel Barrett has spent his whole life preparing for the Culling, a spell-casting competition that determines which of the world’s teenage magicians will be stripped of their powers to preserve magical balance. But nothing could have prepared him to face Ori Olson, a broody rival whose caustic wit cloaks a painful past. From the moment Nigel and Ori meet, sparks fly. Their powers are stronger, more thrilling, the closer they get—not that they can risk becoming attached.

It was about 6 hrs too long.
Revisado: 12-08-23
Though June weaves a good story, this attempt at gay Harry Potter fell very far short of anything close. This book was in my recommendations based on previous books I’ve listened to. I was excited for it but was quite disappointed overall. I took long breaks between having the desire to try and finish it, but I finally did. This is just my opinion and experience and I encourage you to listen and make your own, but overall, I found this book tried way too hard and was really hokey and a struggle to finish. If you like fantasy, maybe you’ll enjoy this but I found I was constantly waiting for something juicy to happen between our main characters other than constant bickering, power struggles and awkwardness. And the cherry on top of how lame it was occurred when a Taylor Swift song was used as a spell. I really had to fight to finish it after that. I really wanted to like this but I just feel like I wasted 10 hours of my life. At least I was able to do other wings while I listened.

Historia
Money's tight and their new home is a fixer-upper. Deep in rural South West England, with an ancient wood at the foot of the garden, Tom and his family are miles from anywhere and anyone familiar. His wife, Fiona, was never convinced that buying the money-pit at auction was a good idea. Not least because the previous owner committed suicide. Though no one can explain why.

Hated it.
Revisado: 09-19-23
As a long time fan of folk horror such as Thomas Tryon’s “Harvest Home” as well as the cult classic “The Wicker Man”, this title pales in comparison as it yearns to be a part of this esoteric genre. The previous mentioned titles were well researched and engaging where as this one only incorporated enough background to try and remain relevant while enlisting more shock and gore than actually including believable or relevant folk magic. KK Rowling does a better job with her research in Harris Potter. Making these cunning folk evil for evil’s sake is tired and we now know better. Even the narrator didn’t fully grasp the material since he literally put the emAPHASIS in the wrong syllABLE in every way- only further indicating that he too had no idea what he was talking about. His voices for different characters were insulting to our intelligence, to say the least. I finished the book to give an honest review and an honest review I’ve given. Save your money/credit and listen to Harvest Home instead!

Historia
With his creation of the infamous Church of Satan in 1966 and his bestselling book The Satanic Bible in 1969, Anton Szandor LaVey (1930-1997) became a controversial celebrity who basked in the attention and even made a successful career out of it. But who was Anton LaVey behind the public persona that so easily provoked Christians and others intolerant of his views?

Good book but awful narrator.
Revisado: 03-01-23
Good book but very hard to focus and listen as the narrator sounds like an AI produced robot. It was a real bummer as I liked the book. Will need to actually read the book to get a better hold on it. Who chooses these readers? A deep gravelly voice doesn’t translate the way they thought it would.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Well done.

I really enjoyed hearing him tell his own story. Very enlightening insight into the workings of that family. There are, of course two sides to every story, but this one was pretty telling. Well done, Harry.
