Historia
That night another deep sleep came over him; and he once again saw the angel that had hand-delivered the tenets of the Noahide covenant. She said, "Noah, why doubtest thou, my child?" He answered, "I’ve failed. I’m a failure. You should really seek out a more qualified individual for this task. I don’t even know what that is, exactly, but I know I am not fit for it. I’m the opposite of Midas. Everything I touch turns to dust and ashes."

Historia
Who is Satan in the New Testament, and what is the evil that he represents? In this groundbreaking book, Elaine Pagels, Princeton's distinguished historian of religion, traces the evolution of Satan from its origins in the Hebrew Bible, where Satan is at first merely obstructive, to the New Testament, where Satan becomes the Prince of Darkness, the bitter enemy of God and man, evil incarnate. In The Origin of Satan, Pagels shows that the four Christian gospels tell two very different stories.

Pagels is a novice
Revisado: 03-22-18
Pagels is a novice and bit off way more than she is qualified to chew in this book. Written from a scholarly angle, it is evident she is not versed in opaque spiritual matters.

Intriguing, worth the investment yet beware
Revisado: 12-12-17
In a meticulous and well-researched fashion, Mr. Rhodes itemizes all the clear signs, or "trends," that indicate the End of Days is either here, or about to unfold.
Many valid and incontrovertible observations are made, each with a fine case detailing the reason these conditions point to the Apocalypse. However I have this against you, Rhodes, you have left your first love and are no longer humble. You have fallen into the common trap of hard prophetic interpretations, blindly applying names to the actors of biblical prophecy, and nearly swearing on all that is holy that you can pinpoint exact time frames, persons, countries and events.
This is not to be, for a true believer is simpleminded and humble, and the more you profess to know the more your words will be held to account. For, "my brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation," (James 3:1), and "for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid," (Isaiah 29:14).

Chuck explores the contradictory behavior of UFOs, and other demonic deceptions, characteristic of the end times. Are they real? Why do UFOs enjoy a military classification higher than our most sensitive weapons systems? Why are the events which occurred in Roswell, New Mexico, still classified since 1947? Why is the Vatican openly preparing to receive an alien visitor?

Missler needs to decide whether he is a Christian
Revisado: 11-09-17
I think Chuck Missler needs to decide whether he is a Christian, or a Scientist. No Mr. Missler, you cannot both parade as a preacher of God and at the same time idolize science, researchers, new technology and physics the way you do. I am baffled, shocked and awed with the amount of real estate he takes up praising the scientific advance of mankind, even going into UFO conspiracy theories, while neglecting biblical literature. In truth, it is relegated to easily less than 20% of actual content.
I believe, good sir, that you are sadly mistaken if you believe reciting John 3:16 at the Gates of Eternity will fool anyone away from your idolatrous heart. I hope you think twice, I hope you repent. For it is not a man you are fooling, and truly you are dealing in shaky territory with very heavy things. How can you sit on the board of several Defense Contractor companies and claim to follow the Prince of Peace? You are trusted and respected, which is why it is duly important that you faithfully consider your current steps. Time is short.

Historia
From the internationally bestselling author of No god but God comes a fascinating, provocative, and meticulously researched biography that challenges long-held assumptions about the man we know as Jesus of Nazareth. Sifting through centuries of mythmaking, Reza Aslan sheds new light on one of history's most influential and enigmatic characters by examining Jesus through the lens of the tumultuous era in which he lived: first-century Palestine, an age awash in apocalyptic fervor.

Would you try another book from Reza Aslan and/or Reza Aslan?
Very creative piece of blasphemy. Aside from discrediting the truth and validity of the bible thrugh and through, he seems to have forgotten to talk about Jesus. Nearly three hours in, he has yet to come on the scene. Would not buy another Reza Aslan religion book.

Another great performance for David Bosco
Revisado: 05-26-17
What made the experience of listening to Dick Cheney Shot Me in the Face the most enjoyable?
I felt Tim's writing as dry slapstick comedy for the most part. It is very modern and contemporary, unabashedly gunning for the middle-class American man. Listening to it made you feel like "another one of the boys," with regard to that sub-category. At times he would dive into weightier themes that got you thinking about unfortunate characters/events from their unique perspective.
Have you listened to any of David Bosco’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
David is a class act who delivers a polished, upbeat performance. He's very good at making the characters "come to life," thereby aiding the audience in empathizing with the book's characters and ensuing unfortunate events.
Any additional comments?
Main takeaway: this book is great fun, I believe intended for light reading and fun, harmless entertainment. Anyone who listens to it and doesn't live in the US will get a very clear picture of what life is like there for the average, middle class guy. Good stuff.

A leading economist charts the indirect road to happiness and wealth. Using dozens of practical examples from the worlds of business, politics, science, sports, literature, even parenting, esteemed economist John Kay proves a notion that feels at once paradoxical and deeply commonsensical: The best way to achieve any complex or broadly defined goal-from happiness to wealth to profit to preventing forest fires-is the indirect way.

Brilliant and Underestimated
Revisado: 04-26-17
What did you like best about this story?
This is a brilliant piece of writing... John Kay is an underrated genius. This book effectively throws a monkey wrench into the gears of 99% of business / self-improvement / management philosophies out there. If you truly study the material, observe it and put it to use in your own life, you will be amazed by the results. However be forewarned; the material and subject matter is extremely intellectual and advanced... not for the lazy reader simply awaiting "the next joke." Agree with comments on the narrator, the book would have been better served if he was a bit more natural in his delivery. BUT DON'T LET THAT GET IN THE WAY OF BUYING THIS BOOK!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Selling "flow" as a highly addictive super drug
Revisado: 04-20-17
Any additional comments?
It feels like Kotler is selling "flow" as a type of healthy, highly addictive drug. The best part? You can only access this drug by (justifiably) risking your life within inches of death to get there. And if you die? Well, at least you had one last hell of a ride. He says this over the course of a 9 hour and 23 minute audiobook production. Got the feeling that since I'm not currently throwing myself off skyscrapers, I am not a good candidate for this magical super drug called "flow."
