Historia
For centuries, the vineyards at Château Renard have depended on the talent of their vine witches, whose spells help create the world-renowned wine of the Chanceaux Valley. Then the skill of divining harvests fell into ruin when sorcière Elena Boureanu was blindsided by a curse. Now, after breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. And the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.

If this book were a wine, it would be box wine
Revisado: 04-28-22
I wish the author had spent some more time researching wine making in France, there were a few points they used new world wine terminology. I know, I know, it’s just a beach read but if you are going to write a book about French wine making, have someone knowledgeable on the subject fact check it.
Overall I thought the book was meh, writing was basic, plot was predictable, characters could have been deeper. It was a good book to fall asleep to, I don’t think I could listen to it with my full attention. Would not recommend to a friend.

Have loved the movie for years
Revisado: 11-21-19
I saw this movie theaters back when it came out and it was an instant favorite. I’ve always had the book on my wish list but never used any of my credits for it, recently I realized it was written by Neil Gaiman who is one of my favorite authors so I decided it was time to get it and give it a listen! I am so glad I did, in many ways it’s similar to the movie, it has the same spookiness that was conveyed by the stop motion animation. It has a totally different tone, not in a bad way. I’ve read a few other Neil Gaiman books recently and this one feels very similar to his writing style which I love. I also love that it is narrated by the author because he’s such a natural storyteller. Because this was such a quick listen and so excellent I know I’ll be going back to it many times.

Way more informative then expected!
Revisado: 11-12-19
This was great on so many ways, I learned a lot more then I’d expected. Not only about Mark Twain and foods he loved but about the history of the foods, the ecosystems the game and fish came from. Most interestingly I learned about the way the landscape of America has change, both since Mark Twain’s time as well as during his lifetime. This is an amazing slice of history, I enjoyed every minute!

Huge Austen fan, this is my new favorite
Revisado: 11-06-19
I’ve been A fan of Jane Austen since I was a child, mostly from watching BBC masterpiece interpretations, movies and modern takes on the stories like Clueless. I’ve been working my way through the books recently, starting with the better titles.
Mansfield Park is my new favorite Jane Austen book. I’ll probably dive in to listen to this book again within a twelve month.

Claire Danes performance is fantastic
Revisado: 03-16-17
This story is gripping to read and terrifying at points, parts of it felt too close for comfort in today's political climate. Claire Danes has great voices for all the different characters and her emotion brings all of them to life. I would give this book a second listen.

I laughed through the whole story, my only complaint is that is was too short! Any fan of Portlandia or Fred will love this. Perfect for a short drive home!
