I thought this could have been 2 different books. It was a little hard to follow w several story lines converging OR maybe I just needed to listen more attentively. Great narration and it was an interesting story!!!

Historia
If it’s navel-gazing you’re after, you’ve come to the wrong place; ditto treacly self-examination. Rather, his observations turn outward: a fight between two men on a bus, a fight between two men on the street, pedestrians being whacked over the head or gathering to watch as a man considers leaping to his death. There’s a dirty joke shared at a book signing, then a dirtier one told at a dinner party - lots of jokes here. Plenty of laughs.

Historia
How far will a mother go to save her family? The Hammond family is living in DC, where everything seems to be going just fine until it becomes clear that the oldest daughter, Tilly, is developing abnormally - a mix of off-the-charts genius and social incompetence. Once Tilly - whose condition is deemed undiagnosable - is kicked out of the last school in the area, her mother, Alexandra, is out of ideas. The family turns to Camp Harmony and the wisdom of child-behavior guru Scott Bean for a solution.

Beautiful
Revisado: 08-13-16
This is beautifully narrated. The writing has a unique way of pulling at ALL of your parental heartstrings. I love the way the story is told from the perspective of the children and the mother. Totally worth every second of your time. My only complaint is that I didn't want it to end!

This book took me a away to the 1930's and held me there breathless until the final minutes. This was one of THE best listens yet. The ending left me tearful AND hopeful for the characters. My ONLY regret is that it ended!

This edition brings together some of Ephron’s most famous writing on a generation of women (and men) who helped shape the way we live now, and on events ranging from the Watergate scandal to the Pillsbury Bake-Off. In these sharp, hilariously entertaining, and vividly observed pieces, Ephron illuminates an era with wicked honesty and insight. From the famous "A Few Words About Breasts" to important pieces on her time working for the New York Post and Gourmet Magazine, these essays show Ephron at her very best.

Can NOT put down!
Revisado: 09-25-11
I'm pretty picky and find it hard to find long listens that hold my attention BUT that was before 'The Night Circus'. I literally could NOT stop listening until the very last words of this audio book. Its SO different from anything I usually like to read. I'm not into Harry Potter or any other 'fantasy' genre but this really drew me in and kept my attention. VERY entertaining!

slow

I found it very slow to produce any information of interest. The details were drawn out in FAR too much detail. I found it hard to follow because I couldn't stay "tuned in" because of the attention to detail. Sorry, never got around to finishing the audio book.
