Historia
No one knew it when their experiment began, but without any particular genius or acumen, the motley cast of billionaires and hucksters behind the modern Premier League struck gold. Pretty soon, everyone wanted to try their luck, from Russian oligarchs to Emirati sheikhs, American tycoons, and Asian Tiger titans. Some succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Some lost everything. Today, players are sold for tens of millions, clubs are valued in the billions, and games are beamed out to nearly 200 countries, all while the league struggles to preserve its English soul.

money talks
Revisado: 06-09-24
wow this book shares some very high level perspective of owners and influencers on the league. I've been following the league for the last 15 years, and outside of what's happening in the field I'm pretty oblivious, it's crazy what those with money can do to change the course of this league.

Honesty in every episode!

At first I thought why is Gary on this podcast? but having listened to it, I wish I was Gary's friend, he is open, honest, funny, and a great podcast host. Cesc is a great sidekick, and they make a great partnership.
I think they could have done a second season, and followed the latest world cup too.

Historia
Peter Reid is one of the most colourful characters to emerge from England over the last 50 years. As a player, he established himself as one of the leading midfielders of his era, being named PFA Player of the Year in 1985 and credited as the fourth best footballer in the world. He won numerous honours with Everton, including two league titles, one FA Cup and one European Cup Winners’ Cup. He also won 13 England caps, playing at the 1986 World Cup – where a date with destiny at the ‘hand’ of Diego Maradona would provide a lasting, painful memory.

A must listen for football fans
Revisado: 11-05-23
I must admit, I only picked this game because it was free at the moment. I'm not an Everton fan, not a Liverpool fan, but I'm an avid football fan and this book was such a fun listen. Here Peter tells his story as a footballer, as a coach, struggles with injuries, an and his world cup experience in 1986. I recommend it, and I'm already thinking I should give it a second listen. Thank you Peter for sharing your story!
