Not great.
Revisado: 09-13-24
I was excited for this series having just finished listening to The America Falls series. This series was however a big disappointment for me. I felt back story and character development were lacking. Not knowing anything about the characters made it difficult to care about any of them until much further into the series after some relationship with them finally developed. I was actually relieved when the story was done so I could move on to something else… On a positive note though the narrator was terrific just as he was with American Falls.

Couldn’t get past the narrator.
Revisado: 10-10-23
I’ve enjoyed every other A. L. Knorr story I’ve listened to. However this one I could not get past the narrator. In my opinion it was just Bad! The story would have been enjoyable if not for that.

It’s ok
Revisado: 09-09-23
Not a bad story, I’ve enjoyed this series of books. The tough part for me was getting past Kings heavy injection of his political beliefs. It takes a away from just enjoying a good story. Also the charming way of Holly seemed to get lost with Justine Lupe as narrator. There was nothing wrong with her performance maybe I just got used to hearing Holly portrayed in a different way.

Historia
From New York Times bestselling author Owen King, who “writes with witty verve” (Entertainment Weekly) comes a “richly imagined” (The New York Times) Dickensian fantasy of illusion and charm where cats are revered as religious figures, thieves are noble, scholars are revolutionaries, and conjurers are the most wonderful criminals you can imagine.

Revisado: 03-28-23
This story was slow and just bizarre. Difficult to follow and stay interested. Left me scratching my head when it was finally finished. On a positive note I thought the narrator was terrific.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Sloowww!
Revisado: 11-10-22
Incredibly slow and boring. Not Grisham’s finest. Narrator was OK except anytime he tried to do a female character’s voice causing me to cringe. Skip this one I do not recommend.

Ok but not great.
Revisado: 05-23-21
Narration was terrific as Sandra Burr usually is. Story was slow and the characters annoyed me. Not Nora’s best in my opinion. I was excited about the story being in the Pacific Northwest where I live but it wasn’t enough to win me over...

I can’t do it. Painful to listen to. I’ll have to read this one. Should have kept narrator from book one.
