Reminded me of a large box full of those plastic or foam bits to protest the content.Lots of light air little substance.
Will writers ever stop repeating a thought over and over and over as if the reader is incapable of geting it the first time around??????
The worst Dexter yet could have been a short story Mr Linsay...a 25 min read, Brtually slow dimwittted read.

Good listen
Revisado: 09-11-09
Well as someone that grew up down under and moved to Canada in 1966 it was a pleasure to read a rather well put together novel weaving the history of early Australia.Liked it so much I listened to the second. Glad to see you had the intestinal fortitude to kill off the husbands and feature some strong females here. There were a lot of tough women down under back then.Good on ya!
Nice job Tamara!
Look forward to the third in this series.
Recommned it to all that like a good story a bit of history and yes a bit of romance.

Young, beautiful, and successful, Elena Michaels seems to have it all. Her happy, organized life follows a predictable pattern: filing stories for her job as a journalist, working out at the gym, living with her architect boyfriend, and lunching with her girlfriends from the office. And once a week, in the dead of night, she streaks through a downtown ravine, naked and furred, tearing at the throats of her animal prey. Elena Michaels is a werewolf.

good bad and ugly
Revisado: 02-24-08
There are some very good parts some ugly and some bad.
The one thing I found absolutely distracting that this author and others seem to do is repeat repeat repeat. STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT...there my contribution. We are not idiots we can remember facts outlined earlier in a work. Kills a book for me.
Guess the writer gets paid by the word.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

Overrated
Revisado: 02-24-08
Well I cant agree with those glowing reviewers. It must be some sort of jump on the Afghanistan is now topical syndrome. All that aside and it is nice he got out with the illegitimate brother in tact well sort of.
Although I needed an aspirin with all the repetition in this book. Why is it that some writers think it is necessary to painfully repeat items over and over to the point where it was like listening to a speaker say a...ah.... ah....while they wonder what else to say.
I felt for the guy and his flight from an upper class life to one of roughing it tough. Some of us have lived tougher lives mate.. The beating and having to deal with the issues of sexual predators and rape based on race creed or culture. Nice to know Islam is about a crazy sexually as the west. In the end though I found this work probably wouldn't get a look at if it wasn't about that place we have sent our armies to. Fairly boring actually slow, plodding, simplistic, repetitive story which sounded like it was written by a college student.
If you are interested pick it up second hand somewhere don't pay the full price.

Wonderful
Revisado: 01-26-08
I grew up in Whyalla Australia and moved to Canada when I was 13. The writer has such a great knowledge and was able to paint a picture of the country, the weather, the relationships life on a station and so on. I really liked the book up to the ending.
I had hoped sentimentally I suppose that the writer could had provided more detail around the conclusion between Jim and Rob, the with the marriage to Ruth and her acceptance of the brother.Would have been nice to have closure on this perhaps in an epilogue if you didn't want to do a chapter. Leaving it to s to figure let me down a bit.
All in all a great yarn with true blue use of the language.
I reackon some not Australian would have some problems with the lingo. I assume in the written format you have a slang dictionary or they can sure find one on the net. Nice work look forward to more form the writer.

Revisado: 12-11-07
Forget this one. Simplistic and devoid of any imagination. The narration stunk-bad German accents. Cant figure out how it was published other than who do you know.Waste of time and money. I suppose my hats off you managed to hook me for the cost of one but I would not read any more.
The set up is some special group selected top of their craft experts yet they are like Keystone Cops really. It was almost embarrasing to read.
