As the day dawns on the fiftieth annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honor of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes. Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves.

The story we all have been waiting for
Revisado: 04-09-25
Oh How happy I was to have seen this newest addition to the Hunger Games family, in the Audible library.
Just like the remaining 4 books, the 5th one dedicated to the story of Haymitch Abernathy, was absolutely wonderful.
The story telling, the writing master-skills of the author, the characters. The twist and unfortunate turns we all adore when it comes to the series.
Love it and I really need more! 😍

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing. But it's the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute take a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant Nobel-prize-nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

A book to remember
Revisado: 02-10-23
What a lovely book.
A story of an incredibly strong woman who against all odds pursues her dreams and the life she wants to live.
I think that even now in 2023 (damn it, time flies…) many women still at times feel that not all opportunities are opened to them. Simply because of their sex.
Well imagine living during times where having a career, being unmarried and smarter than all men combined was not considered an opportunity, but a massive no go.
Elizabeth Zoth, the protagonist of this wonderul book could not care less and instead of giving up, she decides to fight not only for her freedom and her career, but for all women out there who are tired of being codependent housewifes.
A wonderfully written feministic piece that trully has it all. Big love and even bigger recommendation.

Beautiful story about love, race and forgiveness
Revisado: 01-14-22
A touching story about the hardships of a friendship and most importantly about the racial inequality we still see even in the 21st century.
I am usually automatically drawn to stories like this as they portray a world that often feels very distant from my European perspective. A story of a strong bond between two women coming from different roots was no exception.
This book is a wonderful story of love, friendship, race, justice and forgiveness. It is told by two different perspectives in order for the reader to understand both sides of the story. And let me tell you that the authors did a magnificent job! Yes you heard well - authorS. The books is written not by one, but by two amazing female writers and their sense of story telling is just brilliant.
Would your life long friendship last even when your white best friends’s husband, who is a police officer, would should an innocent black boy on the street? Would your inner desire for justice and your deeply rooted cohesion for your fellow african-americans turn away from your best friend? Would you prefer justice over friendship? And last but not least: Would you ever be able to forgive?
5/5 - so far the best book of 2022

Historia
What would happen if a shy introvert lived like a gregarious extrovert for one year? If she knowingly and willingly put herself in perilous social situations that she’d normally avoid at all costs? Jessica Pan is going to find out. When she found herself jobless and friendless, sitting in the familiar Jess-shaped crease on her sofa, she couldn't help but wonder what life might have looked like if she had been a little more open to new experiences and new people, a little less attached to going home instead of going to the pub.

And this books proves it all the way.
I honestly don’t even know how I found out that this piece or marvelous book exists. I guess it was meant to be.
Hardly ever do I love every bit of a book. Hardly ever do I want to become best friends with the author. Well, this is the case and let me tell you, that the lovely Jessica Pan just found herself a fan girl.
For us, introverts, life can get hard sometimes and we often don’t understand why. Are we weird? Do we not belong? Do we not deserve a life full of fun, friends and experiences?
This book sums our lives so well and more importantly it challenges us, introverts, to step outside our little bubble and do the unthinkable.
Not that I am planning of trying a stand-up comedy or even an improv class, but I feel like the book has actually taught me a lot. So much I actually started implementing some things in my office. And damn, it feels good to engage in random conversations. It really, really does.
Thank you, Jessica, for this amazing year long journey you took me on. It might as well be life changing for number of your readers. 🙏
