I don't usually leave reviews, but I waited so long for this book and I just wanted to say that it was absolutely awesome. It was everything I expected the plot was well-thought-out and the wording and phraseology was excellent. The characters were well-developed and the intentions behind their actions were very well explained. I cannot tell you how much I truly appreciate and love a well-developed character and story unless you feel the same. Please read all of this Faith Hunter's books!

Sherlock Holmes is dead--or so most of the world thinks. His fatal plunge over the Reichenbach Falls as he struggled with his archenemy, Moriarty, has been widely reported. But Holmes has escaped and is alive. In his immediate circle, only Holmes's brother, the lethargic genius Mycroft, knows of his survival. Even Dr. Watson thinks that the great detective is dead. Among his enemies, Sebastian Moran, Moriarty's chief henchman, knows of Holmes's probable escape and waits for their inevitable meeting.

I truly enjoyed these stories.
Revisado: 06-28-21
What I really enjoyed most about these stories is how truly they follow the vein of the original storytelling by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. So many authors take a lot of liberties with the characters and while those derivations are interesting this feels much more true. The performance is very well done and very enjoyable, I have listened to it multiple times. I would recommend this and the other book of Sherlock Holmes stories by the same author to any Sherlock Holmes fan!

Terribly Juvenile opening.
Revisado: 01-29-21
I struggled to get past the first half hour of the book and stopped, twice. I couldn't go on, it's so Juvenile and idiotic. he had to do was say, "Can you please move the flowers the wasps and bees the stinging me." Besides why would anybody have the windows open all the time with the screens open to the bees can get into his house, it's dumb.
He does stupid stuff and then automatically pays to fix it, so why would he be all the sudden destructive of her property without repairing it. it's like it's like the childhood trope, the boy bullies you because he likes you. I just can't, I'm sorry.
On top of everything else, he backs her into a corner that she couldn't escape from, and while he's on top of her she just gets turned on and doesn't feel threatened. Even though she feels threatened by him at other times, and is a timid person. Sexual preferences aside, almost any woman that is being cornered by a man they don't know ... I'm sorry it's just not believable. Sexual preferences notwithstanding, because I don't judge people for those, the situation is untenable.
I want to make a point of saying that I like the voice actor in this, I've listened to her work before and I have no problem with her or the way she reads the characters.

Forget everything you know about the world. Vampires exist, Werewolves exist, monsters hide in the shadows, and it's my job to make sure they obey our laws. My name is Evelyn, and I'm a gargoyle. The last one or so I thought. A team of Gargoyles have found me. And for the first time in over a century, I'm not the only one of my kind around, which is a good thing since demons are slipping into this world fully formed.

Revisado: 06-24-20
I was doing okay with the book until the main character went up to her best friend and said "I have $180,000 in debt in back rent for 3 months of rent.". No, just no. The explanation is that the new landlord had tripled her rent...which meant that previously her rent was $20,000 a month and increased to $60,000 a month. Also she paid nothing towards the rent since the increase, because she couldn't afford it. The problem with this scenario is no that no one is paying $20,000 a month rent for a small book shop in any major city.
I think they may have messed up the number and meant the rent was tripled to $6,000 a month from $2,000 a month, but the editor should have caught it. That's why there are editors are for.
Then they say that she cannot get a loan for her business because she has no credit, because they believe she is a 22 year old woman who is inherited the business from her mother. However, in this case the business will be taking out the loan and the business has a good history and practices and has paid its bills, so you would get a business loan not a personal loan and her personal credit would not be the issue.
Also, if the landlord increased her rent he, could have just severed her contract. None of this makes any sense and it is a stupid plot device, if you're going to make plot twist like at least do it accurately.
